(Judy) of Smith Falls.
The couple's family has grown
over the years to include six grand-
children, Sarah and Patrick Cieslar,
Mark, Rachel and Joel, and
Andrew Arthur.
Before his marriage, Mr. Arthur
was a navigator in the air force. He
then worked as an oil petroleum
distributor for British American
Oil, then later Gulf Oil.
He retired in 1982.
Mrs. Arthur had worked in
Woodstock before her marriage,
then did bookwork for her husband.
Mr. Arthur is a member of the
United Church, while his wife is a
member of Trinity Anglican in
Blyth.
Rev. Ross spoke and read the
moderator's report on what was
done to the natives thinking that it
was for the best. Fortunately it is
realized now that Native people
were badly hurt and mistakes are
trying to be remedied.
Offering was presented by Larry
Plaetzer and Peter Verbeek and the
Sunday School.
Ann Vincent welcomed all to the
church.

It was a golden occasion on Sat-
urday, as Hany and Lucille Arthur
of Auburn celebrated 50 years of
marriage at the Masonic Hall in
Carlow.
The former Lucille Keller of Port
Burwell and Harry Arthur of
Auburn were married at Woodstock
Old St Paul's Church, Nov. 27,
1948. Rev. John Davies officiated.
Attendants were the groom's broth-
er Keith and a close friend of the
bride, Kay Masters.
Following a honeymoon trip to
Montreal the newlyweds returned
to their home in Auburn. There
they raised three children Judy (Dr.
Harry) Cieslar, now of Goderich,
Mark (Mary) of Auburn and Greg
An inspiring service on Nov. 22
was presented by Londesboro
Auburn Youth Group and Rev.
Paul Ross at Knox. Scriptures from
Zachariah 8 and from Luke 25 were
read by two girls of the group. The
first pertains to the Lord stating that
Jerusalem would be a city of truth.
Seniors and youths would be happy
there.
In the second Jesus speaks about
a man who had been robbed and
injured, Then a Samaritan came
and with love and compassion
helped him.
A skit on the treatment of a
Native child years ago was given.

WI hears
of special
visitor
The Auburn WI roll call this
month was answered with a gift
received from a foreign land,
spoken about and displayed.
Jean Plaetzer then showed a
beautiful angel and lamp shades
that had been made at a craft
meeting. She demonstrated how
they were created.
Irma Cartwright introduced
Leesa Martene a foster mother for
the past two years to a little girl
from Russian territory. She came
from the heart of the Chernobyl
disaster area.
The family has been moved — but
the radiation, though less, is still
there. It is only for 10 days that the
little Kacia is here.
Leesa belongs to the Huron
group that takes care of the visitors.
Last year they had around 10
children and this year almost 30.
Leesa has a little girl of the same
age, so the two children had both
fun and fights. She is also an only
child.
Kacia enjoyed and ate Canadian
food. She made a real weight gain
while here.
Kacia had teeth taken care of
while here on both visits. Doctors,
dentists and even opthamologists
donate time and medication.
Their suitcases are packed with
non-perishable foods when they go
home.
The children enjoy coming but
are always happy to go home.
Fortunately a translator comes
with them. Unfortunately they
return to a radiated country but are
in better health for their visit here.
The group that brings them are to
be especially thanked for being
excellent foster parents.
Members saw numerous Russian
articles and pictures of Kacia and
her Canadian family.
Bernice Anderson and the WI
guests won, prizes from Evelyn
Christiansen.

be thanked for the wonderful
presentation and the work with the
children.

and 19 following Paul's trip to
various places through Macedonia
and toward Jerusalem, healing and
bringing people to God.
