A Note from Betty
Hurrah! Yipee! Good Work!
These words were heard this week in three very specific spots in town.
The 5Rs Thrift Shop was celebrating seven years in business. Members
attended a potluck dinner and reviewed the unique things that happen in that
space.
The Boyntons were acknowledged as the owners of the store that gave us
the needed start seven years ago.
Managers Joan Jacobs and Rose Horne were praised for their talents and
their ability to utilize over 40 people who volunteer at the shop making it a
unique place to visit.
Staff at our bank were gleeful as they were recognized as number one in
our area by the CIBC. They attended a dinner and out of 32 branches they
showed up as number one. Ask to see their trophy and they can share the
details.
The third spot of joy was the United Church. Lift-light-air - were the focus
as PROJECT UPLIFT, our lift and renovation work at the church entry, was
dedicated by Rev. Chris. The children blew bubbles while Jim McLean
played the bagpipes setting the tone for a fun way to celebrate the work and
co-operation of the congregation.
Change is always difficult and to remove the entire entryway and make it
new and functional for all folk was a big undertaking. In that service, the
time, talents and patience of Henry Exel and crew, John Rutledge and Ralph
Watson were honoured. It was pointed out that each person involved in a
project of this size has their own role to play and all are needed.
Well we're into another week. Let me know what you're celebrating:
Bye now,
