Furniture stolen
On Nov. 2. Hyndman Transport
situated in Turnberry Twp., RR I,
Wroxeter, reported the theft of a
tractor trailer unit.
According to OPP on Oct. 24 a
newly-hired driver was sent to
Toronto to pick up $100,000 worth
of furniture and haul it to a
furniture store in British Columbia.
The furniture company called them
when the product did not arrive.
Hyndman's notified the OPP,
reported the theft of a 1998
Freightliner tractor, red in colour
with Saskatchewan plates along
with a 1997 Stoughton trailer,
white in colour also having
Saskatchewan plates.
On Nov. 3 the 1998 Freightliner
tractor was discovered abandoned
in a parking lot in Mississauga. The
police are still looking for the
trailer along with the furniture
contents.
Anyone with information on the
trailer or the driver of the unit are
asked to notify the Huron OPP or

Brussels briefs
Continued from page 2
blocks without stopping are mov-
ing too quickly.
Councillor Greg Wilson noted,
however, that traffic always was
able to "buzz around the curve at
the river and buzz straight through.
They only had to stop if they came
south on that road. Coming from
the curve, we haven't changed a
thing."
He said the police told them the
best place for the stop sign, but
suggested that the corner could be
made a three-way stop. He agreed
to speak with residents regarding
this.
***
The annual library report noted
that a tabletop needs refinishing.
White asked council if they might
want to consider this in the next
budget.
Councillor Joe Seili, however,
felt there were bigger concerns. "I
would rather see the building more
accessible before I refinish a table."
Council has investigated this in
the past, but the price of accessibil-
ity has been too expensive. There is
no government funding available
for the project.
***
PUC Foreman Don Crawford
will attend the county's air brake
seminar at a cost of $65.
***
Building permits were issued to
Ken Dowling for the replacement
of a roof in a downtown store and
Bill McWhirter for a storage area,
car port and home renovations.
***
A letter is being sent to a resident
who was burning leaves at the side
of the road on new pavement.
***
Approval was given for the
Alzheimer Society to decorate a
tree in the village with blue lights
or ribbon.
***
Council supported a resolution
from Kincardine asking the Canadi-
an Diabetes Association to recog-
nize the efforts of Ayden Byle.
According to White information
had been received that Byte, who
was travelling across Canada to
raise money for diabetes research is
not being supported by the Associ-
ation because of a dispute in how
the funds be used.
