Brussels Livestock report
Fed steer, heifer prices rise, avg. $88 to $94
The sales at Brussels Livestock
for the week ending Oct. 30 were:
fed cattle, 701; cows, 390; veal and
bob calves, 638; lambs, 221;
stockers, 2,967.
The fed steers and heifers sold at
prices $2 higher. Cows traded
barely steady at prices $1 lower.
Veal sold steady. Lambs sold
steady with heavy lambs selling
under pressure. All classes of
stockers sold on a good strong
active market.
There were 453 steers on offer
selling from $88 to $94 to the high
of $100. One black steer consigned
by Tim Hammill, Dobbinton,
weighing 1,170 lbs. sold for $100.
Forty steers consigned by Kada
Farms, Bluevale, averaging 1,425
lbs. sold for an average of $92.72
with a black steer weighing 1,390
lbs. selling to Norwich Packers for
$98.25. Three steers consigned by
Amos B. Weber, Wroxeter,
averaging 1,411 lbs. sold for an
average of $90 with sales to
$96.25.
Eight steers consigned by Jim
Howatt, Londesboro, averaging
1,400 lbs. sold for an average of
$92.78 with sales to $96. Nineteen
steers consigned by Don Shiell,
Wingham, averaging 1,437 lbs.
sold for an average of $91.60 with
sales to $96. Eight steers consigned
by Ricklend Farms Ltd., Auburn,
averaging 1,488 lbs. sold for an
average of $89.90 with sales to
$95.75.

Bureau of Canada, the Canada
Millennium Partnership Program
may provide funding and/or
endorsement for local, national and
international initiatives that meet
the requirements of the program.
Canadians from coast to coast have
responded with a wide range of
innovative initiatives. A total of 83
projects have been approved for
funding under Phase 1 of the
program. Federal support also
includes the use of the official
millennium logo and recognition
on the Canada Millennium Web

consigned by Walter Kaehli, Grand
Valley, weighing 1,440 lbs. sold
for $62. Six holstein cows
consigned by Terpstr-a Farms,
Brussels, averaging 1,226 lbs. sold
for an average of $46.06 with sales
to $60. One RWF cow consigned
by Percy Bros., Holyrood,
weighing 1,368 lbs. sold for
$59.50.
There were 13 bulls on offer
selling from $57.50 to $64.80 to
the high of $67.50. One black bull
consigned by Tim Prior, Brussels,
weighing 1,650 lbs. sold for

Grand Valley, weighing 1,835 lbs.

The Canada Millennium
Partnership Program has five
phases for the submission of
applications. The first phase
(deadline June 19, 1998) is now
complete. Groups and
organizations can continue to
submit proposals during the
remaining four phases of the
program. Deadlines for these
phases are: Phase 2, Oct. 31; Phase
3, May 31; Phase 4 - Oct. 31; Phase
5, March 1.
