Brussels Livestock report Fed steer, heifer prices rise, avg. $88 to $94 The sales at Brussels Livestock for the week ending Oct. 30 were: fed cattle, 701; cows, 390; veal and bob calves, 638; lambs, 221; stockers, 2,967. The fed steers and heifers sold at prices $2 higher. Cows traded barely steady at prices $1 lower. Veal sold steady. Lambs sold steady with heavy lambs selling under pressure. All classes of stockers sold on a good strong active market. There were 453 steers on offer selling from $88 to $94 to the high of $100. One black steer consigned by Tim Hammill, Dobbinton, weighing 1,170 lbs. sold for $100. Forty steers consigned by Kada Farms, Bluevale, averaging 1,425 lbs. sold for an average of $92.72 with a black steer weighing 1,390 lbs. selling to Norwich Packers for $98.25. Three steers consigned by Amos B. Weber, Wroxeter, averaging 1,411 lbs. sold for an average of $90 with sales to $96.25. Eight steers consigned by Jim Howatt, Londesboro, averaging 1,400 lbs. sold for an average of $92.78 with sales to $96. Canadians from coast to coast have responded with a wide range of innovative initiatives. A total of 83 projects have been approved for funding under Phase 1 of the program. The Canada Millennium Partnership Program has five phases for the submission of applications. The first phase (deadline June 19, 1998) is now complete. Groups and organizations can continue to submit proposals during the remaining four phases of the program. Deadlines for these phases are: Phase 2, Oct. 31; Phase 3, May 31; Phase 4 - Oct. 31; Phase 5, March 1.
