The board of directors of Ontario
Pork has announced the
appointment of Paul Knechtel as
chief executive officer effective
Tuesday, Oct. 13. Knechtel will
integrate organizational needs
through innovative marketing
strategies, implement progressive
change management and facilitate
critical negotiations while fostering
industry relations.
"Paul's strengths lie in hiS
persuasion and negotiation skills,
customer service and strong
commitment to staff development
and retention," said Will Nap,
chairman of Ontario Pork. "Paul is
very articulate and has a very
affable communication and
management style."
Knechtel began his career in the
family-owned and operated
Knechtel Corporation. He became
executive vice-president in 1985
and was later appointed president
in 1987. When the Knechtel
Corporation was sold to The
Oshawa Group in 1990, he was
appointed president and general
manager, then later moved to the
position of vice-president
Southwestern Ontario for Oshawa
Foods. He held this position until
1995.
His latest business endeavours
included ownership of an indoor
golf and sports bar in Kitchener and
private consulting for the food
industry.
