WI discusses plowing match
The senior citizens annual fall
rally was held at Holmesville on
Wednesday, Oct. 21. There was an .
excellent turnout of members.
However the Auburn SilverTops
were poorly represented.
The hosts for the day were
Londesboro Happy Gang and the
Vantuckers.
A delicious lunch was served,
catered by Rose Catering, Clinton.

The October meeting of
Londesboro UCW was held at the
church on Monday evening, Oct.
19 at 8 p.m.
OPP Const. Don Shropshall was
guest speaker. He spoke on how
scams are done against seniors. He
showed a video.
Helen read the minutes of the
September meeting.
Greeters at Londesboro United
Church on Sunday, Oct. 25 were
Harve and Yvonne Hoggart. Ushers
were John and Larry Hoggart. This
was anniversary Sunday.

The October meeting of the
Cheerio Club was held on Monday,
Oct. 19. After lunch at the Heritage
Place, members proceeded to the
home of Beth Knox.
Edythe gave the treasurer's
report. The draw, donated by
Hullett Twp. council approved
snow removal contracts for the year
at the Oct. 6 meeting.
Bill Roy will blow the snow on
Siderciad 20/21, Conc. 9 at $27 per
hour and Don Non will care for the
streets of Alma for $35 per hour.
East Wawanosh Twp. will plow the
streets of Auburn down to Craig's
Sawmill at $40 per hour.
For the first time in the
organization's history, MADD
Canada will be launching this
- year's Project Red Ribbon — Tie
One On For Safety campaign on
the internet.
On Monday, Nov. 2 at II a.m.,
Canadians can view the unveiling
of the red ribbon campaign launch
enjoyable as skits, songs, jokes and
readings were supplied by the
various groups. A gentleman spoke
about "Putnam's Petes Dinner
Theatre" at Belmont, Ontario. From
Nov. 16 - Dec. 20 an old fashioned
musical will be there. Bus tours and
individuals are welcome.
Closing remarks were given by
Len Archambault followed by
prayer in unison and God Save The
Queen.
Reta gave the treasurer's report.
Thank yous were read from
Camp Menesetung, Doug and
Florence Snell, the Snell family and
Hazel Watkins.
The December meeting is Dec. 7.
The November meeting is on
Nov. 15.
The Seniors dinner is Nov. 25 at
12:30 p.m.
Greidanus. A play, "It happened in
Church" was presented. Those
taking part were Laurel Mitchell,
Marjorie Duizer, Andrea Postma,
Angela Horbanuik, Brenda
Radford, Brian Whyte, Robert
Goodall and Ruth and Paul Ross.
Margaret Good, was won by Beth
Knox.
Gennevieve Allen gave the two
readings. Edythe gave another
reading on Thanksgiving.
Cards were played.
A Remembrance Day wreath was
purchased from the Clinton Legion
at a cost of $34. An equal donation
will be made to the Blyth Legion.
The township will place an ad in
the Hullett Wildlife User Guide at a
cost of $80.
Accounts totalling $361,036.04
were approved for payment.

Thursday, Oct. 15 the Auburn WI
met at the Hall at 2 p.m. President,
Tena Empey opened the meeting
with a poem "Kids".
Roll call was answered with a
favourite TV show.
The plowing match was
discussed and shirts were shown
which were for sale..
The recently compiled Institute
recipe book, named "Food, Fun and
Frivolity" is for sale for $10. For
the 1999 match Betty Archambault
was looking for volunteers for the
ladies tents and to give out
programs and bags for the winners.
The convention is to be held at
Kirkton on Oct. 22. Delegates are
Tena Empey and Betty
Archambault. Tena Empey is
taking two dozen muffins; Teresa
Bible Study was on Tuesday,
Oct. 20. As members at
Londesboro were busy at the
church Audrey Thompson invited
the prayer group to her home and
there was excellent attendance.
Study continued on Act 16
concerning Pauls' second visit to
Macedonia and to various cities
there.
There will be no study on Oct. 27
but Ethel Ball invited them to her
home .on Nov. 30. Study will

A Halloween party is to be held
by the Walkerburn Club at the
home of a former member Adelaide
Young in Goderich. Attend in
costume.
Mrs. Dorothy Grange returned,
home Saturday after a week's visit
with her daughter Mrs. R. Singh
and family in London.

shades and making Christmas
angels, North Pole elves and paper

Gwen Bidwell and Bernice
Anderson had an interesting
mystery meeting. Gwen displayed
her collection of cats, other
ornaments, tea towels, and tea pots
and salt and pepper shakers. She
gave a commentary on them.
An interesting story about cats
was given by Bernice Anderson.
The hall was decorated with
pumpkins, cats, ghosts, etc. and the
tables to match.

good number of members attended
the anniversary service at
Londesboro.

very worthwhile service with a
thought-provoking skit and
beautiful piano solos from Ron
Greidanus, who grew up in this
area.
