Jeff Nesbitt and Michelle Nesbit were united in marriage on Saturday, May 30, 1998. Michelle is the daughter of John and Ann Nesbit, and granddaughter of Pat and Charlie Shaw, and Margaret Nesbit all of Blyth. Jeff is the son of Murray and Connie Nesbitt, and grandson of Jean Nethery of Blyth and Florence Nesbitt of Clinton. Rev. Nancy Beale officiated. Michelle's attendants were maid of honour, Julie Bromley, friend of the bride; Cathy Strickland and Heather Van Dorp, cousins of the bride; Krista Nesbit, sister-in-law of the bride; Cathy Nesbitt, sister of the groom and Jodie Kerr, friend of the bride, and beautiful little flowergirl Jessica Tyler, friend of the bride and groom. S ports Bulls post 3-point weekend Students run cross-country The Brussels Bantams opened their season Saturday night at home, with some hard-skating hard-hitting hockey. Monkton a visiting squad scored the only two goals of the first to lead 2-0, then opened their lead to 4-0 before Brussels got on the board. Robert Kerr got it started scoring on a pass from Ryan Mawhinney. Going into the third down 4-1 Marc Fischer scored with an assist going to Chris Coulter. Mark Hunter scored at the 7:21 mark with an assist from Adam Hall and Darryl McClure. Then with 5.0 seconds left Brussels pulled their goalie. But though there were On Oct. 6, the North Huron Cross Country meet was held at the Wingham Golf Course. Runners participated in four categories: Mites, Tykes, Atoms and Bantams from the North Huron schools of Brussels, Grey Central, East Wawanosh, Wingham, Turnberry Central, Howick Central and Sacred Heart. Overall first place winners were Christie Sipple, East Wawanosh; Wade Stephenson, Brussels; Mary- Ann Aitchison, Brussels; Isaac Peel, Turnberry; Julia Spaling, Turnberry; Tommy Pettigrew, Wingham; Jenna Krotz, Brussels; Ronnie Higgins, Howick. Congratulations to all the participants for a good run. Thanks also to the Wingham Golf course for their generosity (and the golf cart too!). Friday saw the Brussels Bulls travel to Wiarton and post their first victory. The Bulls struck for the only goal of the first as Andy Agar scored shorthanded at the 7:20 mark. The Bulls opened a two-goal lead early in the second when Gary Staples scored with assists going to Jamie Black and Phil Schinbin. The third period was all Bulls as Dave Hardy scored from Schinbin and Black. Agara scored his second shorthanded goal unassisted. Wiarton got on the board at the 4:38 mark, a shorthanded goal, however Brussels struck back 10 seconds later when Chad Fischer scored his first of the second on a power play from Matt Williams and Brett Davidson. Clint Fischer scored the final goal, a power play marker, from Dave Hardy with 2:30 remaining. The Bulls skated home with a 6-1 victory. Saturday the Bulls travelled to Lucknow to play the second place Wingham Ironmen. The Ironmen came out flying and led 7-0 five minutes into the second. Bulls goalie Mike Smith forced 62 shots. The Bulls scored with 44 seconds remaining in the game as Andy Agar scored a nice pass from Matt Williams. Wingham went on to defeat the Bulls 9-1. Sunday the Bulls hoped to bounce back against the Walkerton Blackhawks. The first period ended 0-0. Walkerton scored the first two goals at the 15:08 and 13:59 mark of the second. Chad McCallum then notched a goal from Mark Wilson and Chad Fischer. Matt Williams followed that scoring from Ryan Gummerson and Andy Agar. Early in the third the Bulls scored as Dave Hardy faked the defense then the goalie. The assist went to Atoms split games It was a split decision for the Brussels Atom Reps as they began the season with a win and a loss. They got off to a good start in the first game, Oct. 16. With good hustle and strong defense from Cory Chapman, Mitch Blake, Josh Albrechtas and Tyler Jutzi, the team outscored their opponents 6-1. Goals were scored by Steven Ropp, Darcey Cook, Matthew White, Andrew McDonald, Continued on page 8 Brett Davidson. The Bulls held the lead but then ran into penalty problems. Walkerton notched the tie with 2:38 left in the third. Coaches commended the squad on a good effort this weekend. Bulls' Notes: In the injury report it is noted that the Bulls have lost Brett Fischer for four to six weeks with broken hand and Brad Mulvey for two to four weeks with a broken leg. Drew Cornell has a bruised shoulder and is recovering day to day as is Dean Walker who is suffering from stomach problems. This weekend the Bulls face off against Walkerton in Walkerton Friday night at 8:30. Sunday the Bulls host the first-place Kincardine Bulldogs at 2 p.m. The Bulls have signed last year Bull Gary Staples. several chances to tie it was not to be as the final score was 4-3 Monkton. Bryce Wedow, Matt Elliott, Matt McCall in goal, Scott McDonald, Paul Linton, Darrell Houston, Jimmy Franken and Andy Van Beek are guarding the blue line this year. Forwards include: Mark Hunter, Adam Hall, Darryl McClure, Marc Fischer, Chris Blake, Chris Coulter, Robert Kerr, Ryan Mawhinney and Kenny McCallum. Coaching staff is Steve Coulter and Murray Houston. The Bantams' next game is Monday, Oct. 26 in Brussels at 7 against Clinton.
