Knox hosts Bible Study The Knox United Church was beautifully decorated for the Thanksgiving Service. Rev. Paul Ross gave the church announcements. Next Sunday, Oct. 18 will be the anniversary service. Lunch will be served afterwards. The children were invited to the front and from the mystery bag a thank you card was drawn. Rev. Ross spoke to the children on the importance and value of thanks and received some excellent answers to his questions. Rev. Ross then gave the scripture from Philippians 4. Here the followers were told to rejoice in the Lord, to give prayer and thanks for his care. The choir sang.- The second scripture was from John 6. In this Christ told the people that God gave the bread of life to this world and told them to believe in Him. The sermon was on "The Good Women visit friends Sunday, Oct. 4 Tena Empey and Ethel Ball visited Betty Haig at Mississauga. Present were friends who had joined them on their trip to Holland. Mr. and Mrs. Jan Sievers from Daelson, Holland were also guests. Michael Lapp, Abbotsford, BC visited his grandparents Kay and Ell Lapp on Oct. 6. He also saw his other relatives here at Kippen. They also took up the collection. The sermon topic was "The Good Life". There will be no Sunday School or service at Londesboro Church Sunday, Oct. 18 as it is Auburn anniversary service. The 121 Youth Group meets on Wednesday, Oct. 14 from 4 - 5:30 p.m. at the manse. Choir practice is 10:15 a.m. Oct. 25. People The monthly euchre tournament was held at Londesboro Hall on Friday evening, Oct. 9. There were 12 tables of cards. Winners were: first, Harvey and Audrey Edgar; second, Keith and Phyllis Tyndall; third, Helen Lee and Mary East; lone hands, tied, with six, Watson Reid, Glen Carter and Jim and Gloria McEwing. The next euchre is Friday, Nov. 13. Life". One must live a life following God's word, Rev. Ross said. They must always think of others who need help and prayer. Bible Study was held at the Knox United on Oct. 6. Marjorie McDougall was pianist and Rev. Ross led the hymn-sing. Study was on Acts 15. There arose arguments over ancient Jewish laws between the Jews and Gentiles. The Apostles and church elders had discussion and told them that faith in God saved one and all. This message brought joy through the churches. The disciples continued teaching and preaching God's word. The meeting closed with prayer. Acts 16 is to be studied for the meeting on Oct. 13.
