thing for someone else each day
what a difference that could make.

discovering they need to be more
involved in a health ministry for
loneliness and isolation and to
reach out to others.
Speers Dodds also told of some
of the ways she is helping as a
Parish Nurse in the Brussels area.
Special music was supplied by

The week after Thanksgiving,
Brussels Mennonite Fellowship is
sponsoring its ninth Ten Thousand
Villages International Crafts Sale,
once again bringing the rhythms of
village life around the world to
Brussels. The sale, to be held at the
church Oct. 15 (5 - 9 p.m.), Oct. 16
(3 - 9 p.m.) and Oct. 17 (9 a.m. - 2
p.m.), provides an international
marketplace of fairly traded
handicrafts, including musical
instruments, pottery, jewellery,
baskets, toys, crèches and hand
loomed textiles.
Ten Thousand Villages is a non-
profit alternative trading
organization (ATO) and a program
of Mennonite Central Committee
(MCC).
In 1997, Ten Thousand Villages
sales, through consignment sales
such as the Brussels International
Crafts Sale, retail stores and MCC
relief sales, provided the equivalent
of nearly 11,500 full-time, year-
round jobs for people in more than
30 Third World countries.
Sale organizer Pat Pietrek says
Ten Thousand Villages can be a
good vehicle to help improve the
economic situation of individuals,
families and the atl ,san groups who
make the handicrafts.
"By partnering with an
organization that has a 52-year
history of working with people who
are unemployed and under
employed, people in our area have
a chance to make a difference in
the lives of talented artisans around
the world. The beautiful handicrafts
that are for sale here are
expressions of traditional cultures
around the world. Through Ten
Thousand Villages, artisans receive
vital, fair income to help feed,
clothe and educate their families."
The sale at Brussels Mennonite
will include a wide variety of
unique and exquisite handicrafts in
various prices ranges to suit every
budget, including many specially
prices items. There will be a good
quantity of botanical baskets from
large to small which have been
very popular in previous sales.
Musical instruments, jewellery,
hand-woven prayer scarves,
Christmas decorations, ceramics
and wood carvings will give
customers an interesting shopping
experience.
The Mennonite Youth
The regular meting of Morning
Star Lodge was held with N.G. Sis.
Lorraine Edwards presiding.
