Blyth may soon have a flag to
represent the village at the 1999
International Plowing Match.
The 1PM committee had asked
council several weeks ago to sub-
mit a flag to display at the event.
When ideas for a community ban-
ner were sought, no one came for-
ward.
However, at the Sept. 15 meeting
of council, Larry and Laura Lucio
Blyth councillors agreed at the
Sept. 15 session to meet Sept. 28 to
prepare for the all-council strategic
planning day, Sept. 29, at Central

Councils will discuss restructuring

The carving and awards will be
on display in Blyth at 193 Queen
St. immediately south of the post
office. The Lucio family is
renovating the building at this
location to house their gallery and
workshops.
Lucio has been admirably
presented council with a prelimi-
nary drawing of a motif which
could be used not only for a flag,
but as a banner along the Greenway
Trail or as letterhead_
The design depicts Memorial
Hall and the arch at the centre with
a village streetscape and country
landscape planned for the sides.
Other ideas which could be incor-
porated into the work include the
site sewage service be 100 per cent
user pay. The cost of complaint
investigation would be borne by the
tax base.
Though the motion was passed,
many of the councillors expressed
the opinion that any decision had
little impact pending restructuring
talks, Sept. 29.

fied with the design, they suggested
that care be taken not to identify
