Euchre kicks off Legion Week By the droves They were lining up early Sunday afternoon in front of The Ark in Brussels to register for the annual Terry Fox Run. A total of 95 participants raised over $5,000 for cancer research. Sheila Richards, the village's Terry's Team Member for 1998 got everyone off and running. The Brussels Legion Branch euchre tournament was held on Sept. 18 with nine tables in play. Winners were partners Eileen Mann and Isabella Gray who received $50. Second place was a tie and the prize of $30 was split between Marie Stewart and Eileen Sellers and Lois and Raymond Haggett. Third prize of $20 was won by Cecil and Maxine Pollock. Most lone hands, men, was Norm Turnbull and most lone hands, women, was Rita Flynn. Both On Aug: 20 the Brussels #1 Camera Crew met at Julia Mitchell's house and opened the meeting with the 4-H pledge. Members answered the roll call "What do you think is the biggest challenge about taking pictures in the dark?" They also talked about what they learned from the club received a free pass for euchre. The 50/50 draw was won by Edna McLellan. Six other draw prizes were given away. There were two lucky cup winners also. The next euchre will be held Oct. 24 at 1:30 upstairs at the Legion. Bring your own pittner. No smoking. There were over 100 people who enjoyed breakfast. Sunday morning at the Branch and a good crowd attended the singles dance. and what they liked about it. They went to visit a rabbit farm to take some animal pictures. The achievement program was at Walk-A-Bott Farm on Aug. 28. Members took some more great pictures and everyone agreed the club and the farm was enjoyed by all. The Roast Beef Dinner is Friday, Sept. 25 from 5 - 7 p.m. Tickets available by calling 887-6562 or 887-6570 or 887-9865. Sympathy is extended to the families of two Legion members who have passed away this week, Henry (Harry) Hall and Walter Schlueter. A memorial service will be held at Brussels Cemetery Sunday, Sept. 26 for Mr. Schlueter. Call Legion for time. Keep the "physical" in education! Research confirms that children who participate in daily physical education are more fit, have better health habits, are less susceptible to stress, and perform better academically. Shanng a Healthier Fukirellii Rnapacnon Mrs. (Dr.) Anne Myers of Saskatoon and formerly of Brussels, visited with relatives and friends recently. While here, she travelled to Pre- scot to visit other family members. She was entertained by many friends, and she attended a birthday party at the Brussels Country Inn with some birthday girls. Terry, now owner of her former home, gave her a tour of the home, which was a thrill for her to see as there had been some changes. On Sunday, Sept. 6, Anne was greeted by relatives and old friends at her daughter and son-in-law's Rene and Bob Richmond, to celebrate her'85th birthday which is on Sept. 22. A RECORD BREAKER! This colourful crew delighted spectators watching this year's annual Fall Fair parade in Brussels.
