past weekend for "A Few Good Men's" annual co-ed
tournament. After a solid hit, Margaret Giesbrecht legs it
down to first keeping an eye on the defense.

FINCH-JARDINE
St. John's Anglican Church, Brussels was the setting Aug. 22,
1998 for the wedding uniting Ryan Finch and Ange Jardine of
RR1, Ethel. Rev. Nancy Beale officiated at the ceremony. The
bride is the daughter of Rick and Barb Jardine of Elmira and
the groom is the son of Gord and Dale Finch of RR1, Ethel.
Melissa Jardine of Kitchener was maid of honour. Bridesmaids
were Tracy Finch of RR1, Ethel, Roxy Bergman of Lucknow,
Melissa Kieffer of Watford and Denise Black of Lucknow. Pat
Hallahan of Blyth was best man. Ushering guests were Jamie
Hallahan, Blyth; Shawn Logan, Belgrave; Mark Olson,
Belgrave and Jeff Finch, RR1, Ethel. Following a reception at
the BMG Community Centre, the newlyweds took a
honeymoon trip to Ocho Rios, Jamaica. The Finches will
reside at RR1, Ethel until the end of October, when they will be
moving to their newly purchased home in Wingham.

CAMPBELL - STRATTON
Brussels United Church was the setting for the beautiful summer
afternoon wedding. Julie Campbell and Steve Stratton were
united in marriage on Saturday, August 1st. Julie is the daughter
of Betty and the late Ivan Campbell of Brussels and Steve is the
son of Anne and Bill Stratton of Hanover. The bride was given in
marriage by her brother Laurie.
The bride wore a cinderella style gown, bodice of shimmering
satin and pearls and a flowing full length organza skirt with a
short train. Julie's attendants were, matron of honour Gwen
Poyntz, cousin of the bride, Debbie Campbell sister-in-law of the
bride and Sandra Nicholson, sister of the groom. They all looked
elegant in teal coloured gowns with matching jackets with satin
lapels. Lindsay and Lisa Nicholson, nieces of the groom were
junior bridesmaid and flower girl wearing teal, burgundy and
gold flowered dresses. All carried bouquets of hot pink roses,
burgundy carnations and purple iris.
Steve's attendants were, best man Gary Nicholson, brother-in-
law of the groom, Laurie Campbell brother of the bride, Corey
Campbell nephew of the bride, and Tyler and Nicholas Campbell,
nephews of the bride were junior ushers. The ring bearer, Jordan
Campbell, nephew of the bride, proudly carried a golden
horseshoe with the rings for good luck. They all looked very
handsome in their black tux with matching teal vests.
The mother of the bride was stunning in her two piece suit of
periwinkle blue, accented with large brim black straw hat. The
groom's mother was lovely in a suit of ivory and taupe.
Beautiful music was provided by organist, Grace Jutzi, soloist
Julie McCall, and saxophonist Keith Wilbee, while a reading
about love, was given by Brenda Keller.
Dinner and reception followed at B.M.G. Community Centre.
Many laughs were enjoyed with the Master of Ceremonies, Bill
King Jr.
The bride and groom enjoyed their honeymoon at Couples Negri!
and Super Clubs Grand Lido Brace in Jamaica.
The couple resides south of Bayfield at R.R. #2 Zurich.

Bulls split weekend action
Brussels Bulls faced off against
Exeter on Friday night.
Jamie Black fired the Bulls' first
goal at 8:56, with helpers going to
Brett Davidson and Mark Wilson.
Exeter scored the next two goals
to lead 2-1 after 20 minutes.
At 19:27 Wilson scored on a pass
from Andy Agar and Drew Comeil.
Ex-Bull Brad Brown then gave
Exeter the lead once more.
Exeter scored twice more early in
the third to lead 5-2. However, the
Bulls fought as Agar scored, with
assists from Chad Fischer and Mike
Courtney. Wilson completed the
scoring with 2:56 left on a nice
three-way passing play from Dean
Walker and Clint Fischer.
The final score was Exeter, 5,
Brussels, 4. Game sponsor was
Hensel Co-op.
Sunday night the Bulls tangled
with Seaforth Jr. D.
The Bulls opened the scoring at

The last Brussels Lawn Bowling
tournament of the season was held
at the greens Thursday afternoon,
Sept. 3 with 18 teams participating.
The tournament was sponsored
by Helen Hetherington for
Associated Financial Planners.

Brewers was Monday at 1:30
against the Goderich Orioles. Cook
pitched a complete game, and even
when Walton was down 4-1 until
the sixth inning, continued to pitch
strong.

The Bulls travel to Plattsville,
Tuesday to play New Hamburg at
8 p.m. This weekend the Bulls host
Seaforth in Seaforth Friday at
7:30 p.m. and host New Hamburg
in Listowel on Saturday at 3:30
p.m.
Walton broke out in the sixth and
scored 10 runs. In the seventh they
scored four more.
The Orioles picked up two in the
sixth but it was not enough.
The Brewers defeated the Orioles
15 - 6 to win the "B" Consolation
Championship.
Homeruns for the Brewers went
to Leonhardt and Huether. Mark
McNichol was four for five at the
plate, Huether three for five and
Leonhardt three for five.
The Brewers acknowledge the
fans from Walton and Brussels who
came out to cheer them on.
Again this summer more than
100 children ages five to 16
enjoyed minor ball in Ethel.
With eight teams from Pre-Mites
to Bantams involved in the Tri-
County League the park was busy
every night.
Two three-pitch tournaments for
adults were held during the summer
as well.
Coaches and helpers are to be
congratulated for their
contributions in making the
programs possible for the
youngsters.
Year-end picnics and get-
togethers have completed a very
successful season for all. Three of
the young teams ended their season
with championships.
The Ethel I Pre-Mites were the B
Champs at the Tri-county Pre-Mite
tournament in Belgrave on July 25.
They defeated the Brussels and
Ethel II teams to take home their
title.
The Ethel PeeWee boys were
victorious over the Atwood
PeeWees. They took two games
straight in the best two-of-three
series by scores of 9 - 6 and 15 - 10
respectively to win the B
championship in their division.
The Ethel PeeWee girls earned
their B championship by defeating
the Belgrave team two games to
one in their best two of three series.
The final game played in Belgrave
saw the Ethel girls overpower the
home team by a score of 17 - 11.
