Installation of Officers of
Morning Star Lodge is on Tuesday,
Oct. 13.
On Wednesday, Sept. 9 the
Majestic Women's Institute held
their regular monthly meeting at
1:30 p.m. with 14 members
present.
First Vice-President Peggy
Keffer opened the meeting by
welcoming everyone back after the
summer break. A poem entitled
"Exterior Decorator" was read
followed by the Institute Ode and
the Mary Stewart Collect.
Secretary Kathy Bridge read the
minutes of the June meeting.
Roll call was Current Affairs.
These ranged from the local fair to
the Canadian Air Strike. Cathrine

Morning Star Lodge, Brussels took
place on Sept. 8 with N.G. Sis.
Lorraine Edwards presiding.
Prior to the meeting Lodge
members enjoyed a potluck supper
with seven visiting Sisters from
Pride of Huron Lodge, Exeter.
The Charter of the Lodge was
draped in loving memory of Br.
Rae Crawford, who passed away on
June 28.
A letter was read from Sis. Edna
Pearson stating that due to health
problems she is resigning the
Office of Recording Secretary.
Thanks to the efforts of Brothers
of Western Star Lodge No. 149
there is a new carpet in the Lodge
rooms. Betty Cardiff reported on
the District meeting June 24

On Tuesday, Sept. 8 Russell Fax,
London, ON and formerly of
Brussels, a retired CNR employee,
celebrated his 85th birthday at
Parkwood Hospital, London.
Approximately 60 guests and 10
from fourth floor hospital staff
attended to offer him "Best
Wishes".
The hospital lounge was festively
decorated with balloons and
flowers for the occasion, while the
table was centred with a beautiful
birthday cake.
Russell was the recipient of many
cards and gifts and congratulatory
certificates from the Prime Minister
of Canada, Rt. Hon. Jean Chretien
and other local politicians.
Those attending from Brussels
were Wayne Lowe, John W. Lowe,
John A. Lowe, Mary Lowe, Dianne
Huether and Joe and Ethel Brewer.
Due to working commitments
many relatives were unable to
attend, but all responded with cards
and telephone messages.

Grandparents'
bake sale, social
September being Grandparent's
Month the Huronlea Volunteer
Auxiliary is hosting a Grand-
parent's Social and Bake Sale on
Wednesday, Sept. 23 from 2 -
4 p.m. at Huronlea. This event is
being held to honour grandparents,
so plan to attend for an afternoon of
socializing and sampling some
delicious desserts. If you don't have
a grandparent why not adopt one or
even two for the afternoon.

and some bad news. Some were on
the border, depending on who read
it.
She noted that most papers
whether London, Toronto or
Brussels all note the same
headlines at some degree.
Ruby Steiss then ended this with
a chuckle.
Correspondence were read.
Ruth Bauer gave a report of the
District Directors. New business
was dealt with. Happy Birthday
was sung to members.
Fair representative
Cynthia Dewit was chosen as the 1998 Brussels Fall Fair
Ambassador on Friday during a special evening, which
featured dinner and a fashion show. Runner-up was
Matthew Shortreed.
