"111E CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 9, 1998. 1998 HURON PIONEER THRESHER REUNION & HOBBY SHOW From start to finish, Thresher Reunion for music lovers What event would be complete without the strains of fiddles,, the precision of stepdancers and a variety of dance music? Certainly not the 37th Huron Pioneer Thresher and Hobby Association's gathering in Blyth from Sept. 11 to 13. From the time campers arrive Wednesday, Sept. 9 to the final parade Sunday afternoon, visitors will be treated to jam sessions, old-time dancing, fiddle tunes, Pierce's Band, Joe Tiffin's Orchestra and fiddle and dance competitions. Gladys Van Egmond of Clinton, co- ordinator of entertainment, along with Dave Chittick of Hanover have organized a full slate of entertainment. Camper jam sessions, scheduled for Wednesday evening, will draw visitors to the Auditorium and Steel Shed for old- time dancing. Thursday's fiddle jam will he held in Sheds 1 and 2. Friday brings a day filled with enter- tainment. There will be two stageS near the Auditorium featuring local entertainers, from 12 to 5 p.m. Pierce's Band will entertain on the Second Stage, next to the arena ball diamond while with locals take to the Main Stage behind the arena. New this year, the Classic Tappers will perform at 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. at the Main Stage. At 4 p.m. on Friday and at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, a parade review will he held at the Second Stage. Pierce's Band will move indoors, Friday evening, to provide country music for the 8 p.m. dance. Saturday events kick off at 7:30 a.m. when the firchall will be open for a hardy pancake beakfast. At 10 a.m. local entertainers take to the Main Stage and are followed by the fiddle competition at 1 p.m. The Second Stage will be the site of the opening ceremonies at 1 p.m., preceded by a concert by Joe Tiffin's Orchestra at noon. The Brussels Pipe Band will bring a slightly different note to•the reunion as they perform at Second Stage, Saturday afternoon, before moving to the antique car exhibit by 3 p.m. Special events for the children will begin at 2:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, at Radford's ball diamond. Adult events will be held both days, at 1:30 p.m., just west of Radford's diamond. Joe Tiffin's Orchestra will provide the music for the Saturday 'dance to be held from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m., in the arena. The stepdancing competition will take place at the Main Stage at 1 p.m. Sunday with the Country Ramblers providing the musical diversion at Second Stage. An added attraction this year will be all- day jam sessions and dancing at the newly-constructed shed located behind the camping area. As well as musical events, tractor pulls, threshing, border collie demonstrations and horse demonstrations will take place throughout the weekend. Admission to the three day event is $2 for senior citizens (Friday only), $4 for adults and children 12 and under are charged $1 unless accompanied by an adult, then they are free.
