Family hosts surprise party for 'golden' couple

A little of this, a little of that, but
a lot of interesting items to looks
through.
The recently-opened Blyth Buy
and Sell, at the north end of town
on Hwy. 4, has a wide assortment
of antique, collectible and everyday
household articles from which to
choose.
Opened at the end of July, own-
ers Nathan and Yuleen Duquette
are no strangers to this area or
operating a business.
Yuleen, who ran a small business
in her home country of the Philip-
pines before coming to Canada,
operated a shop at the old Belgrave
church with her husband, a few
years ago.
Nathan owned the Mac's Milk
Store in Wingham from 1991 to
Robert Peck, son of Mr. and Mrs.
C. Peck, Windsor married June
Quilter, RN, daughter of Addic
Quilter, Edmonton, AB, in
Metropolitan Church Chapel,
Toronto, Sept. 8, 1948. Attendants
were Nina Harris, Caster, AB,
friend of the bride and Don Peck,
brother of the groom.
Robert and June took a month-
long honeymoon trip, first to
Memphis, then north to Banff and
Edmonton, where Robert met
June's relatives and friends for the
first time.
On returning to Windsor, ON,
Robert took up his established Reg-
istard Seed grower and grain farm-
ing enterprises.
They had three children, Brenda,
now of Strathroy, James of Wind-
sor and Ruth who passed away in
1982.
Robert and June retired in 1976
to RR 3, Blyth where they built a
small house on 100 acres. He
became a tree farmer and planted
thousands of white pine and walnut
trees.
The Pecks are members of
Auburn United Church. June
1995 and was a firefighter.
After working as a bylaw
enforcement officer in Toronto for
a few years, Nathan said they want-
ed to get back in business instead
of working for someone else.
They returned to this area
because "it is a good place to raise
children." The couple has two-year-
old Brandon with another soon to
arrive.
Their collection of items comes
from auction and yard sales which
Nathan spends much of his time
attending.
As well as furniture, dishes,
glassware, appliances, clothes,
shoes, pictures and electronics,
Blyth Buy and Sell offers sporting
goods, toys, bikes and exercise
equipment.
"We have a little of everything,"
says Yuleen.
They point out that because of
Nathan's frequent trips to sales, the
selection will change frequently.
"There are a lot of good gifts for
a fraction of the new price," he
says. And those prices are never

Brenda planned a surprise garden
party for Sunday, Sept. 6, which
was held at their home. Jim enter-
tained the young people by giving
John Deere Gator rides through the
beautiful woods.
Monday evening a dinner for 16
guests was held at the Dinner Bell
Restaurant, Clinton.
Special guests were Ron and Bev
Walker, Shawna and Tammy, Jack
and Sylvia Nonkes, Mark, Peter,
Aron and Angela and a nephew and
niece Dave and Lynda Pennington

Grateful that they were able to be
home for this special milestone, the
couple acknoweldge the staff of
Town and Country Support Ser-
vices, their "girls in blue", whose
assistance has made it possible,
despite Robert's failing eyesight
and June's recovery from a broken
hip last spring, to continue to enjoy
their retirement at home.

ful for each day. God has been so
good to us."

ing to haggle.
