Family travels to Marathon Bob and Jane Grasby greeted worshippers and handed out the service of worship on Sunday, Aug. 2. Rev. The gospel was taken from Luke 12: 13-21 with the Psalm selection ft 7, 4 - 9 and 43 read responsively. The Old Testament reading was from Hosea 11, 1-11. Kim Higgins was in charge of The WMSS held their August meeting at the home of Alice Nicholson on Monday, Aug. 10. The Purpose was read in unison. Roll call was answered with a verse of a hymn. Margaret Siertsema gave the report of the last meeting with Ivy Cloakey giving the treasurers report. Fifty-four visits to shut-ins were recorded. Alice read the message from the moderator of the General The August meeting of Londesboro WI was held on Wednesday, Aug. 12 at Huronview. The meting opened with the Ode and Mary Stewart Collect. Lois Elliott was presented with her past president's pin. Reta Kelland gave the financial report. Oct. 22 is London Area Saturday afternoon, Aug. 15 Margaret and John Hildebrand celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Friends and neighbours from Auburn and all surrounding areas were in attendance. Also attending were their families, their children and their brothers and sisters from the East and from the west and of course their grandchildren. It was a lovely day, a happy occasion and everyone wishes them many more happy years. A number of Aubumites attended the Dungannon Fair on Sunday, nursery. The sermon was based on relationships ''Why do we turn away from God?" When we do He always takes us back just as a parent does. What we do affects all around us. If we are good we have a better relationship with God. God is in us all — parents, leaders, coaches, etc. Joyce Vincent and Marlene Procter took up the offering. Margaret read the next chapter from Loaves and Fishes entitled "Sharing God's Banquet". "Come Ye Faithful People Come" was read. Rev. Campbell closed with prayer and the hostess served lunch. Colleen Irwin and Cindy McBride of Port Carling visited recently with Betty Irwin. Convention at Kirkton. The Fall Rally is first -Monday in October. Helen Dale and Liz Lawson had the programme. Liz spoke on the workshop she attended last week. She also gave the history of Londesboro United Church. Helen Dale spoke about the Salt Works near Clinton. Aug. 8. There were Auburn men with their tractors taking part in the tractor contests and some were among the winners. The Walkerburn Club will have a picnic on Aug. 26 in Goderich. They will then enjoy a doll collection at Islay Johnston's. The Auburn United Church UCW will meet at 8 p.m. on Aug. 31 at Bernice Gross' home. Please bring an article for sale. United Church members were pleased to welcome Mrs. Dorothy Grange to the service on Aug. 16. She has been ill and we pray that she will continue to improve. Marjorie McBurney organized a scrumptious smorgasbord birthday party on August 2 to honour her mother's special day. The families of Elaine and James Scott gathered for a one o'clock meal at the Dunkeld restaurant. Elaine was the recipient of many lovely gifts and cards for which she fittingly expressed her thanks. Joel, Julie, Jeanine, Jordan and Jesse Van Camp spent four days in Marathon, visiting Joel's brother Ray and Lucy VanCamp and family. A great time was held fishing as well as seeing wildlife and the sights. Mrs. Margaret Darland and her daughter Mrs. Christy William of Merrill, Michigan and Mrs. Doris Rev. Hobden talks of faith Rev. Mary Jane Hobden welcomed everyone at Knox United Church Sunday, Aug. 9. The Old Testament reading was taken from Isaiah II, 10-20 with the Psalm selection 50: 1-8, 22-23 read responsively. The Epistle reading was from Hebrews II, 1-3, 8-16 and the gospel lesson was from Luke 12: 32-40. The sermon was based on "Faith". Joyce Vincent and Doreen Marks took up the offering. Karen Hallahan was in charge of nursery. Communion was also observed with the sharing of the bread and cup with the Communion prayer being reading in unison. Vacation Bible School will take place at Knox United Church on Aug. 24 - 28. Church Service was resumed on Sunday, Aug. 2 after a month's holidays. - Greeters were John and Brenda Radford. Ushers were Don and Kittie MacGregor. The flowers at the front of the church were in memory of Mrs. Bob McCool. Greeters at Londesboro United Church on Sunday, Aug. 9 were Josephine MacGregor and Isabelle Scanlon. Ushers were John and Barb Jewitt. A Memorial service for David Anderson was held on Saturday, Aug. 15 at 2 p.m. from Beattie- Falconer Funeral Home. Greeter at church on Sunday, Aug. 16 was Bert Lyon. Ushers were Jack Lee and Bert Lyon. Sermon topic was "Sign Language". The monthly Euchre Tournament was held at Londesboro Hall at 8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 14. There were 13 tables of euchre. Winners were: first, Len and Betty Archambault; second, Orville and Reta Kelland; third, Helen and Alice; lone hands, Barb and Ken with seven. The next euchre tournament will be held at the hall at 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18. The sympathy of the community is extended to Marg, Anderson and family on the passing of a husband and father David Anderson. Runchey of Kitchener called on their cousins Lewis and Helen Stonchouse. Mr. and Mrs. Kerry Calder of Scarborough were recent visitors at the home of Betty Irwin. Ashley Irwin of Ashfield The Yuji' Reunion was held on Sunday, July 26 at the Women's Institute Hall with 35 relatives attending. George and Mary Johnston were in charge. A social time was enjoyed and games were played. George welcomed everyone and grace was said by Stewart Leedham. Everyone enjoyed a delicious potluck supper. It was decided to have another reunion in two years. Joyce Hill and Marjorie Stopforth volunteered to be in charge. Relatives attended from Wingham, Tavistock, St. Catherines, London, Michigan, Howard and Judy Morton of Bel- grave were in Toronto Aug. 16 to see a performance of the play Hos- pital, written and directed by their daughter Heather. The play, part of the Summer- Works theatre festival for upcom- ing writers and performers, was performed at the Factory Theatre. Howard Morton described the play Township was a weekend guest at her grandmother's Betty Irwin. Mildred Yuill returned from an enjoyable months' vacation in Vancouver with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Philip Feeley. Toronto, Blyth, Bluevale and Belgrave. Mr. and Mrs. David McCormick, Jeffery, Gregory and Michel of St. Catherines, Mr. and Mrs. Nick Vesley, Jennifer, Kristen and Stephanie of North York, Mr. and Mrs. George Johnston, Tara and friend Scott and Erin of Ilderton spent the weekend with Laura Johnston and all attended the Yuill reunion.
