HURON PERTH HOSPITALS PARTNERSHIP NEWS
CPH's representatives on the Joint Executive Committee of the
Partnership continue to work toward selecting a CEO for the eight
hospital group. The eight member selection committee is currently
working with a consultant. The position will be advertised soon, inviting
applications within and outside the Huron Perth area. The goal is to
have a CEO assume their duties this fall.
The Health Services Restructuring Commission have notified all rural
hospitals of their intention to provide recommendations on the
development of hospital networks and governance structures. The
commission recommended that CPH be part of a network that includes
its other seven Huron Perth partners and Palmerston District Hospital.
The hospitals are preparing a joint response to questions posed by the
Commission which they will forward by August 14, 1998.
FEASIBILITY STUDY RE: CLINTON
PUBLIC HOSPITAL/ALEXANDRA, MARINE
& GENERAL HOSPITAL AMALGAMATION
The firm of Dreezer & Dreezer has met with staff, board and foundation
and community members to assess the advisability of the two hospitals
joining forces as well as the potential for cost savings. They are currently
working through the information and preparing their report. Their
findings and recommendations will be presented at a joint meeting of the
two hospital's Boards in August.
70 SHIPLEY STREET
Clinton Public Hospital has new neighbours. the house at 70 Shipley
Street has been sold. This house was purchased by CPH at a time when
the hospital felt there was potential for expanding the facility. Given the
current trends in health care restructuring it was decided the property is
not likely to be required and the operating dollars that were required to
maintain the investment could be used elsewhere to greater advantage.

Efforts to curb rowdiness unsuccessful in Blyth
Blyth councillors were told at the
Aug. 4 meeting, that problems con-
tinue on Drummond Street.
The OPP had been out in full
force following further complaints
regarding disturbances advised
Clerk-Treasurer John Stewart.
Numerous charges had been laid.
The barrier constructed by the
village had been broken and the
checkerboard sign pushed over. An
invoice for materials and labour
will be sent to the tenants of 476
Drummond Street.
Following an early request for
information regarding responsibili-
ties to develop property along
onion Street, Stewart advised
council that a plan was being drawn
to share costs. If an owner on the
north side paid for the road and
infrastructure, a south side resident
could not obtain a building permit
until 50 percent of those costs were
paid to the village which would in
turn pay them to the original devel-
oper.
All work would have to be engi-
neered to ensure future develop-
ment would have access to water,
hydro and sewage.
With no appeals received regard-
ing the Lavern and Joan Clark
minor variance, the committee of
adjustment decision is final.
Authorization was given for the
payment of $2,033 including GST,
to Merner Contracting Ltd. for
Gypsy Lane storm sewer construc-
tion.
Clerk-Treasurer John Stewart
was advised to obtain estimates for
King Street road work which would
include curbs and gutters as well as
a price without the additions.
The PUC wish to install a water-
main and the Avon Maitland Dis-
trict School Board wants to pave
the parking area next to the school
at the time of reconstruction.
In response to complaints about
village employees washing side-
walks during the watering ban,
Stewart said only the section in
front of the theatre had been
washed once.
OPP crack down on liquor violators
Using a RIDE squad the Huron
County OPP detachment recorded a
, large number of liquor violations in
the village between Aug. 1 and 7.
On Aug. 1 police recorded six
liquor violations on Ann St. and
one on Drummond St. involving
youths aged 17 to 22 years of age
from addresses as far-flung as Lis-
towel and Stratford as well as
Blyth.
OPP are investigating the theft of
a 1996 Ford pick-up truck from a
Blyth driveway August 17.
The truck disappeared sometime
between 7:30 Sunday night and 8
a.m. Monday morning. The vehicle
had a full tank of gas and the keys
were left in the vehicle.

bake table, tea and gladiolus sales.
The Ladies Auxiliary served
lunch to 32 people and about as
many for tea.
"We had a very good turnout this
year, we were very pleased," said
Henry.

side screening test. He subsequent-
ly failed a breathalyzer test at the
Clinton OPP detachment and was

mgs. He will appear in court at a
later date.
The same night at 11:55 p.m. a
damage done to a car on Blyth's
main street while the owners were
enjoying a meal at a local restau-
rant.

a.m. Aug. 15 when owners returned
to their car and found a CB radio
antenna had been ripped from the
vehicle's trunk area. The antenna

pect.

ted to having several bottles of
