James Murray called the young worshippers to the front and showed them a copy of the Enquirer, then pointed out some of the captivating headlines. Some sounded pretty ridiculous. He noted that there were some "weird" stories in the Bible too. He told them about the story of Naaman and Elisha, then asked what they children thought would make good headlines from that story. His sermon was called, 'The Abundance of Grace.' Most peop!e are used to thinking that there is only so much to go around in this world. To be number one is the most important thing, since winning is all that counts. They are quick to criticize those who are successful, since they have become better than themselves. Sometimes it is hard to see others successful. "We may be too msecure to honestly wish another person well, without somehow feeling their success means our failure and loss. We end up always comparing, and competing, and trying to keep other people down." Rev. Murray said that he could never understand why people are convinced that there is a scarcity of good to be had in this world. "We are willing to use up our natural resources and our people resources as if they were completely expendable and as if we had an unlimited supply. Yet we treat love and kindness as if they were the most precious and rare of commodities that have to be carefully rationed out." Jesus wasn't afraid to share his power of healing love with others. He knew that he had an abundance coming from God. He knew that the only way to get this power in his life was to give it away. "It goes for us too. We only get the spirit of God into our church when we actively share the love of God outside of our church. We must not be afraid to share the power of God's love. For there is an abundance of love for everyone."
