THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, JULY 1, 1998. PAGE 15. The last week of school is always so busy. This week at Walton PS was a volunteer appreciation service where 34 people were acknowledged for their efforts in helping to make Walton school as wonderful as it is. Also the students and the school advisory council presented Mrs. Vivian, Mrs. Crane, Ms MacEwan and secretary Linda Wilson with gifts as these people are leaving the school this year. On behalf of the Walton School I would like to thank chairman of the School Advisory Committee, Rita Bowers and the rest of the committee for all of their hard work. The school could never be what it is without their work and dedication. Also it was brought to my attention that there are three children with perfect attendance records and they are Laura Bowers, Jennifer Eedy and Stephanie Lubbers. Congratulations! The annual talent show was held on Tuesday with a lot of entries. It was certainly a community effort with grandmas and some parents and siblings helping out with the acts. We had Marcie McClure, Nikki and Andrea VanderVeen, Cassandra Banks and Crystal Gibbons dancing to My Oh My. Andrew Van Vliet, Cassandra Banks, Bridget Blake, Joel Dalton, Laura Bowers, Katie Williamson, Danica Zwep all played pieces on the piano. Jamie Mitchell and his Grandma Phyllis Mitchell played the fiddles. Courtney Campbell and Christopher Becker each did a Hullett Twp. council agreed, at the June 16 meeting, to inform the county they would deal with sewage inspection services. Since the downloading of ser- vices there has been a question as to whether the health unit, conser- vation authorities or municipalities would be responsible for sewage system inspections. Hullett Twp. will issue permits and provide inspection services. A bylaw was passed to regulate the erection, alteration, construc- tion and demolition of various types of structures in the township. Permission was granted to the owner of Part Lot 24, Conc. 3, to fill in the ditch bank to a reason- able slope. An application for a zoning bylaw amendment for Part Lot 44, Conc. 14 was abandoned. The Clinton Fire Area board budget was approved in the amount of $122,900. recitation. Darlene VanderVeen accompanied her twin daughters, Andrea and Nikki on the guitar while they sang. Their youngest sister, Janelle played an instrument along with them. Laura Elligsen sang a number. Spice Girls, Stephanie Lubbers, Jennifer Eedy, Claire Mastnak, Laura Elligsen and Cassie Bressette were a singing sensation. Taylor Bennewies sang a song while his Grandma came all the way from Mitchell to play for him on the piano. Katie Williamson, Jody McIntosh and Nicole Williamson sang a song as well as Nick Halley and Blake Miller, plus Lauren Mulholland. Wednesday brought the Grade 4 farewell party. A song At the end of the Rainbow was sung and a slide presentation of the Grade 4 students to the music of What a Wonderful World was shown. Then the presentation of certificates and report cards were given out. Congratulations to Andrew McDonald who was presented with the Shirley Lyon Memorial Award for outstanding achievement in Language Arts. We say goodbye and good luck in Seaforth next fall to Greg Bowers, Blake Miller, James Durrell, Kevin Hood, Adam McClure, Nick Halley, Jereme Diehl, Katie Williamson, Crystal Gibbons, Marcie McClure, Mitch Blake, Steven McNichol and Jimmy Aldrey. Mrs. Vandendool presented to each student a yearbook with pictures and writeups about each. At the June 2 session, in a recorded vote, Hullett council sup- ported a two-tiered system of municipal government. Councillor Bruce Bergsma voted against the motion. A bylaw was passed, approving the revised usage percentages for Blyth and District Community Centre. A motion was passed establish- ing policy for the installation of gas lines along township roads. Council rejected a request to include information slips regarding the Goderich Collegiate reunion in the tax billings. Grants were given to the Huron County Farm and Safety Associa- tion, $50; Tuckersmith Twp., $500; Huron Plowmen's Associa- tion, $50 and Town and Country Support Services, $50. Bills and accounts, totalling $82,292.17, were approved for payment. M.
