The May meeting of the Huronlea Volunteer Auxiliary was held at Huronlea on May 25 with 12 members present. Leona Armstrong, president, opened the meeting with a poem entitled "Friendship, Love and Laughter", followed by a short prayer. Arm Brabender, secretary, read the minutes of the April meeting. The volunteer appreciation night and the Mother's Day Tea were discussed. Next year both Huronview and Huronlea will each have their own volunteer appreciation night. Even though the Mother's Day Tea was a great success some suggestions were made for improvement. Dini Nethery, treasurer, gave her report, noting a balance of $280. Marjorie Duizer volunteered to make and donate "Welcome Cards" to give to new residents. The calendar of events for the month of June was discussed and several members offered to assist the activation department with several activities. People in the community are to be encouraged to drop in and have a friendly visit with a resident. "Life Story Booklets" are being worked on, which will be very useful for-staff and volunteers when visiting. If anyone from the community could come in once a month to play a musical instrument in the secured area it would be appreciated. Call 887-9267.
