Anniversary
service begins
at 11 a.m.
Jennifer and Darrell McClure
were greeters at Duff's United
Church on June 7.
Rev. James Murray announced
that next Sunday, June 13 is the
Anniversary Service. Note the time
changed to 11 a.m.
Everyone is welcome to attend
and hear guest speaker, Gary Allan
Price. He is a member of the group
sponsoring John Davidson of
Jesse's Journey. There will be lunch
served after the service.
Rev. Murray's sermon was about
the 'Trinity'. It is true that God is
too complex for people to be
satisfied with simple definitions, he
said. God is complex and
mysterious and wonderful.
"Perhaps," said Rev. Murray, "This
is one reason why we have the
concept of the Trinity. The Trinity
is a way we describe the
indescribable fullness of all of our
experiences of God."
People do not all experience God
in one, uniform manner, just as
they do not all experience the game
of hockey in one uniform manner,
he said. Hockey can be known by
playing the game, watching it or
reading about it. These are all
different experiences which inform
of the experience. The same
diversity is true of experience of
the divine.
"We know of God in many
different ways. We know God is in
the world around us; We find God
through stories about Jesus Christ
which we read in the Bible and we
experience God as a real and direct
presence in our own lives."
People
A beautiful red maple tree was
planted this weekend at the Walton
Ball Park in memory of Ken
McDonald. His family were
gathered there for the planting of
the tree.
There were 12 garage sales going
on in Walton this past weekend
with a good number of people
attending them. The school held its
bake sale and most of the items
were sold.
Congratulations to Jennifer
McClure who upon entering a
drawing contest that BBS Master
Control held, won a prize. She had
sent in a drawing of her cat.
This week had all the Walton
classes working on projects for the
Seaforth Fall Fair. There are
paintings, stories, poems and
different art forms that will be
entered in the fair.
A highlight of the week was the
Goderich Public School combined
bands that visited. The favourites
were the songs from the movies
Grease and Titanic.
The Early Year students had
Gavin Bowers showing his sister's
little grey kitten named 'Fluffy'.
Sherry Lee Wernham brought in
four chicks and turkeys for the
children to see. They hopped from
hand to hand and lap to lap. The
students noted how much they
peeped.
Chris Holmes was the lucky one
that got to take hofne Coke and
Pepsi for the weekend.
There were quite a few long
faces this week when Mrs. Vivian
told the students that she would not
be coming back next year. Mrs.
Vivian, who lives in Stratford, has
a new position that is closer to
home. The whole school will sure
miss her.
Tuesday was playday and the
Grade 4s organized all the games
and activities.
Also, Wednesday, June 10 is the
Fun Carnival, starting at 5:30 p.m.
There are hot dogs and popcorn for
sale and lots of fun games to play.
There will be pony rides and the
infamous Madame Rosa will be
back to read elbows and fingernails
once again. Everyone is welcome
to come out for a fun time.
Euchre ends
for season
There were 10 tables of euchre
played for the last time until
October.
Winners were: first, Kay
Hesselwood and Erma Brighton;
second, Lavern and Greta Hoegy;
third, George and Gloria Love;
men's lone hand, Boyd Driscoll;
ladies' lone hand, Millie Johnston;
50/50, Beatrice Stall, Kay
Hesselwood, Kay Baer.

er, the plan will be more open to
non-farm development on land that
is not prime farmland.
Davidson will also meet with the
Town of Goderich to discuss its
concerns over the lack of details in
the plan for watershed manage-
ment.
