The family of Jack and Erlene
Caldwell were pleasantly surprised
by Erlene's children, George and
Linda of London; Juanita and
friend from Harriston, Jackie and
John of Brussels and Blyth at a
supper at the Benmiller Inn for
Erlene's birthday and Mother's Day.
It was really enjoyable.

Class studies whales Creating habitat corridors
Blyth Venturer Chris Knox handles the shoveling while
Lucknow Scouts Zack Fielder, left and Jordan Crawford,
right, assist in the planting of trees. The youths planted
200 trees at a natural habitat area in West Wawanosh
Twp., near Lucknow, May 16, to further enhance the area
for wild turkeys and other species. The trees were
donated by the Huron-Perth Wild Turkey Association and
the day was co-ordinated by the Huron Stewardship
Council.
WHALE OF A REPORT
By John Battye
Grade 3/4 has been working on a
whale unit. They're now
researching information about
different kinds of whales. They've
also written whale poetry.
They just finished working on
types of measurement such as
perimeter and area.
Their next math unit topic will be
about geometry.
In phys. ed., they have been
practising for track and field.
They've also been doing my
favourite activity, which is reading
in groups to improve their reading
skills.
In language they have been
writing stories and improving self-
editing skills.
By Taylor Hesselwood
The Grade 1 class has been
looking forward to many upcoming
events such as the walk-a-thon and
play day.
They are working in groups
making puppet plays based on the
play entitled Charlotte's Web which
they saw May 11.
They are now busily working on
fair work for the school fair, in
Bclgrave.
The Grade Is are becoming very
good readers. They are reading
books to the rest of the class every
afternoon at Storytime.
MOVING ON UP!
By Katelyn Linner
The Grade 7/8s are becoming
very excited about moving on up to
secondary school. They have
already completed and handed in
information sheets to their high
schools to help the staff organize
the classes for next year. They have
also had their graduation photos
taken.
On April 28, the Grades 7 and 8
students went to Tech 21. This
program uses a variety of
computers to teach them about new
technology. Mrs. Hulley and her
students really enjoy this
experience.
In science they have just started a
unit on space and in language arts
they are working on novel studies
