DISTRICT HOSPITAL
CORPORATION
Notice is hereby given that the Annual Meeting of the
Wingham and District Hospital Corporation will be held at
the Wingham Public School Auditorium, 131 John St. E.,
Wingham, Ontario on Thursday, June 18,1998 at the hour of
eight o'clock p.m. for the election of Governors; for the
appointment of Auditors; and for the transaction of such
other things as may properly come before the meeting.
Copies of the Annual Report and Hospital Financial
Statements may be obtained at the front desk of the
Wingham and District Hospital effective June 11, 1998 and
at the Annual Meeting.
Memberships granting voting privileges may be purchased
at the front desk of the hospital for five dollars ($5.00) prior
to five o'clock p.m., Wednesday, June 3, 1998. No
membership sold, after that time will entitle the purchaser
to a vote.

The May meeting of the Belgrave
Community Club was held on
Friday, May 1 in the club room
with 20 members present.
President Lorne Campbell
welcomed everyone and opened the
meeting with 0 Canada accom-
panied by Freda Johnston at the
piano.
Birthday greetings were extended
to Harvey Edgar, Aileen Leddy,
Mabel Wheeler, Doris Michie, Jack
Taylor and Donna Shaw.
Plans were discussed for the bus
trip in July to Jackson Point to see
Anne of Green Gables.
The club hosted the May birthday
The WMS held its meeting at the
home of Mae Johnston on Monday,
May 4.
Ivy Cloakey read scripture from
1 Kings. A meditation was read by
Margaret Siertsema. When Mothers
of Salem was sung.
Roll call was a poem or Bible
verse on "Mother".
Forty-one sick and shut-in visits
were recorded.
The Spring Rally is to be held in
Belmore on May 11.
The next chapter was read

The May meeting of the Evening
Unit to Knox United Church,
Belgrave was held May 5 at the
home of Louise Bosman with 15
members and one guest present.
Donna Shaw welcomed everyone
and opened the meeting by reading
a poem "My Mother's Hands". She
thanked Louise for hosting the
meeting.
Thelma Pletch and Irene Lamont
conducted the worship service with
Jesus' mother Mary, as their theme.
Doug's grandfather; Roy Cousins
of Brussels.
Barbara Anderson, captain of the
Belgrave and district canvass for
the Canadian Cancer Society
reports that $3,159 was received
during the April canvass. There
was a splendid response and many
thanks goes to the canvassers and
all those who donated so
generously.
Mary Hatheway of Windsor
spent a few days at the home of
Janisa Coultes.
On Saturday, May 9 Mrs. Larry
Mayberry of Londesboro and Mrs.
Howard Zettler, Amanda and
Alicia of RR 4, Walkerton spent
the day with Beth Procter.
Mother's Day visitors at the home

Stopforth and Alexandra of
Oakville and Frank and Dorothy

in Mitchell June 15 and 16.
The shoot party for May will be
held May 22. A potluck is planned
for May 22 at 12:30 p.m. Players
are requested to bring their own
dishes.
The Fall Rally is to be held at
Ontario Street United Church. It is
to be hosted by Dungannon and
Londesboro. Each club is
responsible for one item
entertaining.
The club decided to purchase a
club stone for the Kinsmen Park.
The club name will be inscribed on
the stone.

Dayspring community garden in
London was discussed. Those who
have no place to grow food can
have a plot costing anywhere from
$5 to $30 depending on their
income. It has grown from 14 to 40
plots in 6 years. Blest Be the Tie

by telling their mother's maiden
name and birthplace.
The secretary's and card report
were given.
Members were reminded to make
cookies for the London Conference
Annual meeting at Centralia May
22-24.
Camp Experience is June 8.

Greeting worshippers and
handing out the service of worship
at Knox United Church on Sunday,
May 10 were Ross and Wilma
Higgins. Elizabeth Procter played
inspiring prelude organ music.
Rev. Mary Jane welcomed the
congregation. The sanctuary was
tastefully decorated by Florence
McArter and Barbara Anderson
with spring flowers.
Joanne Robinson accompanied
on the piano and Lila Procter
directed as the children's choir sang
Jesus Has Time and Creature
Praise.
Kim Higgins was in charge of
nursery.
For children's time all the
children helped to make a cake by
adding the ingredients and stirring.
Welcomed into faith community
through the sacrament of baptism
were Agnes Megan Isabel Carter,
Gabriel Michelle and Cassandra
Amber, all daughters of Ron Carter
and Michelle Buurs. Welcomed
through the transfer of member-
ships were Ron Carter from Blyth
United and Michelle Buurs from
Londesboro United.
The sermon was based on, rules —
those who make them, those who
obey them and those who do not
obey them. The Reverend referred
to Peter's rules. Peter has a life
changing dream, he discovers that
the Easter message was not just for
a select group but for all. God's

Mother's Day was observed
Sunday, May 10 at Knox
Presbyterian Church in Belgrave.
Rev. Cathrine Campbell led in
worship. The sermon was based on•
"Whose Rules".
Special music was supplied by
Dianne McWhirter, daughter
Bryanne and son Cody. They
accompanied themselves on guitar
and Cody with the maracas sang
Give Me Love and He has the
Whole World in His Hands.
Arnold Bruce accompanied by
the organist, Hazel Dalrymple
played the violin for Mother's
Prayers Have Followed Me and
Precious Memories. Each mother
was presented with a carnation by
the Clerk of Session.
12 tables
at euchre
On Wednesday, May 6 there
were 12 tables of euchre in play.
Winners were: high lady, Kay
McCormick; second high lady,
Viola Adams; lone hands, Betty
Morrin; low lady, Freda Johnston;
high man, Jack Taylor; second high
man, Doris Walden; lone hands,
Mabel Wheeler; low man, George
Inglis.
There will be euchre again on
Wednesday, May 13 at 8 p.m.
There were nine tables of shoot
in play at the Belgrave Community
Centre on Friday, May 8.
Winners were: high lady, Nell
Johnston; second high lady, Lillian
Appleby; most shoots, Norma
Moore; low lady, Ora Bruce; high
man, Jack Taylor; second high
man, Harvey Edgar; most shoots,
Ross Taylor; low man, Richard
Moore.
The next shoot will be on Friday,
May 22 beginning with a potluck at
12:30 p.m.

17. Mr. Dave Williams will be
providing pulpit supply for Sunday,
May 17 with lunch following the

Knox UCW general meeting is
on Thursday, May 21 at 8 p.m. in
the Sunday School room. The guest
speaker is Nancy Daer, who will be
showing slides on her trip to
Europe.

On top of the job
Blyth Lions constructed a stairway at the arch on the
Greenway project to take hikers up the old CN railine, to
continue north to Conc. 8, Morris Twp. From left: John
Stewart, Steve Howson, Charlie Shaw, Brian Garnett,
Devin Jenkins, Barney Stewart. Also present were Tyler
Stewart, Alex Blair, Mike McDonald and Gord Jenkins. The
next part of this project is a walkway to the Blyth Brook
arch and the bridge, to replace the arch, which was
destroyed when the railline was closed.
