PAGE 29. bituaries DON McDONALD Don McDonald of RR 2, Brussels passed away suddenly at his residence on Tuesday, April 28, 1998. He was in his 68th year. Don is survived by his beloved wife Marilyn. He was the dear father of Bruce McDonald and his wife Maggie of Hanover, Heather Clark and her husband Ron of Crediton, Cathy Flaxbard and her husband Paul of Georgetown, Pat Bremner of Sarnia, Jim McDonald and his wife Linda of Brussels and Jeanne Dionne and her husband Rob of Dashwood. He was the dear brother of Mary Huether and her husband Murray of Brussels and dear brother-in-law to Don Newman and his wife Betty and Barbara Tervit and her husband George, all of Wingham, Doug Newman and his wife Jeanie of Drayton, Betty Jane Gill and her husband John of Ottawa, Bill Newman and his wife Fran of Walkerton, Rick Newman and his wife Doddie of Etobicoke and Leona McDonald of RR 2, Blyth. Don was dearly loved by his 13 grandchildren and also by his many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Jim and Edna McDonald and by his brother, Ken. Many friends were received at the Betts Funeral Home, Brussels on Thursday, April 30. The funeral service was con- ducted at Duff's United Church, Walton, on Friday, May 1 at 2 p.m. and officiated by Rev. James Murray. The organist was Margery Huether. The 84th Psalm was read by his son Jim McDonald and the 23rd Psalm was read by his grandson Ryan Bremner. Eulogies paying tribute to Don's life were given by his son Bruce McDonald and by his daughter Jeanne Dionne. A solo of I Believe was per- formed by Graeme Craig and the choir was the Seaforth Harmony Kings. Honourary pallbearers were Ron and Pauline Bennett, Harry and Frieda Hayter, Clarence and Audrey McDonald, John and Bev Elliott, Allan and Karen Carter, Herb Turkheim, Rick and Joanne McDonald, Karen McDonald, Brian and Dianne Huether, and Don and Pat Nolan. The pallbearers were Howard Hackwell, Jerry Ryan, Jack Knight, Neil McGavin, Jim Fritz and Paul Krau ter. The flower bearers were Don's 13 grandcrfildren: Ryan and Andrea Bremner, Megan, Kevin and Shawn Flaxbard, Jamie, Jackie and Krista Clarke, Sarah and Andrew McDonald, Fiona McDonald and Tim and Katie Dionne. Interment was at Brussels Cemetery. Don's 67 years were very full and rich with friends and community involvement. He was married for over 45 years to his beloved wife Marilyn. He dedicated over 35 years of service to various school boards, including his time as the longest serving trustee with the Huron County Board of Education. He was a past master of St. John's Lodge #284, Brussels and a past member of the Brussels Optimist Club and the Fair Board. He was a lifelong member of Duffs United Church. Given his musical ability, he could be found singing with the Church choir every Sunday morning, and was also a very active member of the Seaforth Harmony Kings. He sang at many church services, weddings, funerals and other community functions throughout the area. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to Duffs United Church, the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario, the Canadian Diabetes Association or to Harmonizer for Speech for Kids. INEZ (,TICKLING) McDONALD It is with deep sorrow, the family of Inez McDonald announce her death at University Hospital, London on Thursday, April 30, 1998. She was in her 82nd year. Mrs. McDonald is survived by one daughter, Sue and her husband Neil Gowing of Brussels and sons, Archie McDonald of Ottawa and Dr. Sandy McDonald and his wife Lee of Barrie. She is also survived by grand- children, Rob Gowing of London, Jen Gowing of Brussels and Carolyn, Alex and Catherine McDonald all of Barrie. She was the dear sister of Isabel Jickling, Wenzel of Listowel and Dorothy Jickling Thompson of Tillsonburg. Her nephews Jim Thompson of Tillsonburg and Rob and wife Shielagh Thompson of Oyama, B.C. are also left to mourn her passing. Mrs. McDonald was predeceased by her husband Ian Duncan McDonald in 1983 and parents Mina (Preston) and Walter Jickling. By request there was no funeral home visitation. A memorial service was held from Brussels United Church on Saturday, May 2 at 3 p.m. Cremation with interment of ashes in Brussels Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Brussels United Church uplift fund would be appreciated. The Kevin E. Brown Funeral Home, Listowel was entrusted with the funeral arrangements. WILLIAM GEORGE DAVIS William (Bill) George Davis passed away in the Palliative Care Unit of Stratford General Hospital on Sunday, May 3, 1998 after a long and valiant battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife Shirley (McClellan) and was the proud father and grandfather of Scott, Linda and Sara Davis of Waterloo; Brian, Sherry, Colleen and Gregory Davis and Mark Renee, Nathan and Isaac Davis, all of London. He is also survived by a brother James and wife Donalda Davis of Port Elgin and sisters Muriel and husband Bill Coultes of Belgrave, Elizabeth and husband Don Stobo of Teeswatcr and Audrey and husband Alan Babensce of Waterloo. Surviving also are brothers-in-law Stan McClellan and wife Kay of Tobermory, Stan and wife Karen of Orangeville, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements were han- dled by the W. G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron St., Stratford. Visitation was held on Monday evening and Tuesday afternoon and evening. The funeral service is being held today Wed., May 6 at St. John's United Church, 175 )Vaterloo St. S. at Douro Street in Stratford at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to the Palliative Care Unit of the Stratford General Hospital; St. John's United Church Memorial Fund or a charity of one's choice.
