NOTICE
OF THE PASSING OF A
BY-LAW IN THE TOWNSHIP
OF MORRIS
The Council of the Township of Morris hereby advises that the
following by-law was passed by council on
Tuesday, April 21, 1998
BY-LAW NO. 15-1998
To prohibit or regulate the Parking, Standing
or Stopping of Vehicles within the Township of Morris.
"General Stopping, Standing and Parking Regulations"
1/ No person shall on a highway, park or leave standing a
commercial motor vehicle, except temporarily for the loading or
unloading of passengers or merchandise, in the following
restricted areas in the Township of Morris:
(a) Within the Hamlets of Belgrave, Bluevale and Walton and the
Urban areas to the south, north and west of the Village of
Brussels;
- those areas designated as VR 1 and VR 2 and NE 1 and D, as
shown on the maps available for review at the Clerk's Office
during regular office hours.
"Parking Prohibition - Special Conditions - Snow Plow Routes"
No person shall park or leave standing any vehicle on any
highway within and under the jurisdiction of the Township of
Morris between the hours of 1:00 o'clock and 8:00 o'clock in the
morning, of the same day, during the winter control season
commencing on the 15th day of November, in each calendar year,
and continuing until the 31st day of March of the calendar year
next following.

Belgrave WI holds annual meeting
Checking the offerings
Cody McGee of Wingham was among the more than 400
people who attended the East Wawanosh Public School
fundraising auction, April 24 at Belgrave Community
Centre. The tremendous success of the event raised
$11,500 for creative playground and library resource
equipment for the school. Another $2,500 was gathered
through donations. More than 300 items were purchased
through live and silent auctions, with most bringing in their
retail value.
10 tables in play at euchre
There were 10 tables of euchre in
play on Wednesday, April 22 in the
Women's Institute Hall.
Prizes went to: high lady, Winnie
Boyd; second high lady, Aileen
Leddy; lone hands, Viola Adams;
low lady, Janet Mathers; high man,
Nell Johnston; second high man,
Harvey Edgar; lone hands, Richard
Moore; low man, Irene Smyth.
The next euchre will be on
Wednesday, April 29 at 8 p.m.
The seniors bowling scores for
Wednesday, April 22 were: Jean
Walker, 127, 150; Laura Johnston,
116, 158; Louise Bosman, 228,
106; Al Myers, 110, 73; Largaret

At the Belgrave Community
Centre on Friday, April 24 there
were 10 tables of shoot in play.
Winners were: high lady, Helen
Casemore; second high lady, Edyth
Coultes; most shoots, Lois
Charm-my; low lady, Mary Taylor;
high man, Lloyd Appleby; second
high man, Marj Coultes; most
shoots, Dennis Leddy; low man,
Bob Grasby.
The next shoot party will be on
Friday, May 8 at 1:30 p.m.
UCW meets
The Afternoon Unit of the UCW
met in the Sunday School room on
April 21.
The leader, Kay Roberts,
welcomed everyone, then read
"The Legend of the Easter Lily".

The Belgrave Branch of the
Women's Institute held its annual
meeting on Tuesday, April 21 in
the WI Hall. The evening began
with a potluck supper at 6:30 p.m.
The members and guests were
welcomed by Wilma Higgins.
Convenor for the program was
Kay Roberts. She introduced the
special guests from East Wawanosh
Public School. They included
Amber Delisle who recited a poem
"Mothers' Valentine"; Nicole Meier
who gave a speech on "Hiccups",
Heather Black whose topic was
"Sleep Walking" and Chris Cottrill
who spoke on "Excuses".
The Science Fair winners were
Kristin Gerth, "Mystery Melt II";
Paul Walker on computer entry
"Practical Life Skills".
All the students did an excellent
job.
The business portion of the
evening began with everyone
present signing a get well message
for President Audrey Fenton who
has had recent surgery.
Secretary-Treasurer Dianna
Robinson gave her reports and read
current correspondence.
The district annual meeting will
be held in Dungannon on Monday,
May 25 beginning at 9:15 a.m.
The roll call was answered by the
payment of membership fees for
the coming year.
District WI President, Jean
Plaetzer brought greetings and told
of her past year's activities in the

Mabel's Moms met at their
regular time on Wednesday, April
22. Those who attended were: Kim
Higgins, Laura, Ashley and Jarrod;
Rev. Mary Jane Hobden and
Stephen; Karen Rundle and Holly;
Linda Hess and Judith; Lila Procter
and Jessica; Alice Wightman and
Autumn; Melanie Pletch, Megan
and Amelia.
Their topic was "The New
Baby".

Reports were presented by the
secretary-treasurer, the public
relations officer, program co-
ordinator and curator.
Mrs. Plaetzer installed the new
officers for the 1998-99 year.
The next regular meeting will be
on Tuesday, May 19 at 7:30 p.m.
with Isobel Campbell as the
program convenor.
