School board rubber stamps stub year budget

With little discussion or board
input, the Avon Maitland District
School Board (AMDSB) has
'rubber stamped' the 1998 stub year
budget.
Trustees at April 14's meeting
voted to adopt the draft 1998 stub
year expenditures budget, for Jan.
1, 1998 to Aug. 31, 1998, in the
amount of $78,757,994.
"In many respects it has been a
rubber stamp for effort for the
administration and a rubber stamp
effort for the board," Paul Carroll,
director of education, said. "It

MARIE ANNIE (BAKER)
TURNBULL
Marie Turnbull passed away
peacefully at home with her loving
family by her side, on Thursday,
April 16, 1998. She was in her 78th
year.
Marie was born in Grey Twp on
Feb. 22, 1921. She was the only
daughter of the late Selwyn and
Hazel Baker. She married William
J. (Bill) Turnbull on June 5, 1941
and they started their life together
farming on Lot 10, Conc. 15 of
Grey Twp. where they lives} for 25
years. In 1966 they moved to their
present location on the edge of
Brussels where they continued to
farm until they retired in 1984.
Marie took an active role farming
alongside her husband. She was an
avid gardener and enjoyed a busy
life working with her crafts, and
being involved in many community
organizations. She was a member
of the Rebekah Lodge, UCW,
Women's Institute and Brussels
Fall Fair.
Marie is survived by her dear

1998 to Aug. 31, 1998," Carroll
said in his action report.
Trustees expressed disapproval at
husband Bill, daughter Marion and
her husband Ron Uhler of
Burlington, Barb and her husband
James Fritz of RR 2, Brussels_and
daughter Shirley of Orillia. She will
be lovingly remembered by her
grandchildren Patti and Jeff
Parnell, Jeff Uhler, Tim and Lisa
Fritz, Kim and Ron Strome, Steve
Fritz, Greg Fritz and his friend Jill
Camochan.
Marie is also survived by her
mother-in-law Jennie Turnbull,
brother-in-law Jack Turnbull and
his wife Marion of Seaforth, sister-
in-law Dorothy Lawless and her
husband Doug of Burlington and
Helen Habkirk of Ingersoll. She
was predeceased by her parents and
a brother-in-law George Habkirk.
Visitation was held at Betts
Funeral Home, Brussels on
Saturday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m.
A Rebekah service was conducted
by Morningstar Lodge #315 on
Saturday evening.
The funeral service was
conducted by Rev. James Murray
from the funeral home on Sunday,
April 19 at 2 p.m. A gracious
eulogy paying tribute to Marie's life
was given by Doug Lawless and
Kim Strome.
Soloist Donald McDonald sang a
beautiful song How Great Thou

MICHAEL "TYLER" WILSON
Tyler Wilson passed away
suddenly at Clinton Public Hospital
as a result of an ATV accident on
Sunday, April 12, 1998. He was in
his 14th year.
Tyler was the beloved son of
Linda (Walden) and Ross Wilson
both of Blyth. He was the dear
brother of Wesley and Tara at
home and loving grandson of Mary
Walden of Blyth.

Tyler was known for his zest for
life, quick wit, humour and
contagious laughter. He brought
joy and happiness to all around
him.
Arrangements were entrusted to
the Beattie-Falconer Funeral Home
"Tasker Chapel", 129 Queen St.,
Blyth. A memorial service was held
Wednesday, April 15 at 2 p.m. at
the Blyth United Church officiated
by Rev. Stephen Huntley. A
touching memorial service was
held at Blyth Public School,
2:30 p.m. Friday, April 17 by
fellow students.

from Wingham council, reaffirming
their preference for two-tiered gov-
ernment.
