Brussels Livestock report Steer prices top $103, avg. $90 to $96 The sales at Brussels Livestock for the week ending April 17 were: fed cattle, 765; cows, 228; veal and bob calves, 500; lambs and goats, 1,096; Stockers, 2,169. Steers and heifers sold $1 higher with cows selling steady. Beef veal sold fully steady with Holstein veal selling $1 to $2 higher. Lambs sold sharply lower. All classes of stockers sold a fully steady market. There were 510 steers on offer selling from $90 to $96 to the high of $103. Thirty-nine steers consigned by Jerry Kuntz, An innovative demonstration project combining the marketing strengths of Huron County tourism operators and the regional agri-food sector has received the support of the Agricultural Adaptation Council (AAC). The project, co-ordinated by the Huron Tourism Association, combines development of tourism activities with the promotion of regional agri-food produce. Support is made possible through the AAC's CanAdapt program, with funding provided by Agriculture and Agri- Food Canada. "Developing partnerships within rural communities increases available human and financial resources and in this case, new agri-tourism activities, consumer awareness and loyalty to Huron County agricultural commodities," said Paul Henderson, chair of the Agricultural Adaptation Council. "This is a model for rural development projects which attempt to harmonize resources to create new jobs, economic activities and local awareness."
