Gwen was already a pensioner
when I first got involved in politics
in 1980. A memory from the 1981
campaign was of Gwen being
turned away from a Seaforth "All
Candidates Meeting" because she,
one of the candidates, was a
woman. Today it is hard to imagine
that kind of sexism but it is because
of Gwen Pemberton's lifetime of
activism and the work of others like
her that positive change has
occurred in our communities.
I invite all who know Gwen or
who would like to honour her for
her lifetime of community activism
to come on May 1.

Clerk-Treasurer Nancy Michie

mined until late May or June when
