THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, APRIL 22, 1998. FWIO dir. speaks to Majestic WI On Wednesday, April 8 the Majestic Women's Institute held its annual meeting at the Brussels Public Library. Twenty-one members, six guests and special guest, Winnifred Mann, enjoyed a delicious potluck lunch. President Edna McLellan opened the meeting with a poem entitled "Later than you think". The Institute Ode and Mary Stewart Collect followed. Kathy Bridge gave the minutes of the March meeting, followed by the treasurer's report by Jean Bell. Roll call was taken with members revealing their sunshine sister of the past year and getting a Town and Country Support Services Easter Dining Out Program was held on April 9 with 25 in attendance. A delicious Easter ham dinner waPserved with the help of Brussels Public School students Johnathan, and Jennifer. Joan van den Meer, co-ordinator, introduced several directors of the Wingharn Dining Out Program, which is in the process of being organized. The regular meeting of Morning Star Rebekah Lodge #315 Brussels took place on Tuesday, April 14 with Noble Grand Sister Lorraine Edwards presiding. District Dep. President Sis. Bernice Ford of Huron District No. new one for this year. Correspondence was read and business dealt with. Committee volunteers were taken for Tweedsmuir Tea on May 6, the soup and sandwich euchre May 19, as well as the euchre party for May 5. The annual meeting minutes were read by secretary Kathy Bridge. Mrs. Bridge will be the secretary for the next annual meeting. Mrs. Bell gave the annual treasurer's report which showed an increase in funds from the previous year. Winnifred Mann, board director Leah Vollrath, co-ordinator welcomed everyone and conducted several contests. Winner of the door prize was Mary Bryans. 50/50 winner was Dorothy Smith. An Easter Parade Contest was held and the selection for the most original Easter hat was won by Eleanor Hemingway. The funniest was won by Neil Schade and the prettiest was won by Dorothy Smith. Jim Roseaccompanied the Easter 23 paid her official visit. There were also five visiting sisters from Pride of Huron Lodge, Exeter. On Wednesday, April 15 the officers and members of Morning Star Lodge, Brussels attended a dinner at Exeter United Church in for FWIO gave a talk on working together to make lives easier and the world a better place. Winnifred then installed these officers: past president, Ruth Sauve; president, Edna McLellan; first vice-president, Peggy Keifer; second vice-president, Lucy Hesse; secretary, Kathy Bridge; treasurer, Jean Bell; district director, Ruth Sauve; alternate district director, Ruth Bauer; public relations officer, Peggy Keffer; auditors, Marie McCutcheon, Leona Paraders demonstrating their beautiful creations. He also entertained the group by leading a sing-a-long. - The next dining program will be held April 23 when members will observe Earth Day. The guest for the day will be Joan Jacobs from the 5R's who will explain and display some of the creations from recycled materials. honour of Sis. Mary MacLennan during her, official visit to Huron District No. 23. Morning Star Rebekah Lodge members conducted the opening ceremony later in the evening. A donation was made to Rainbow Camp, a camp for children and families with cancer. The next regular meeting will be held, on Tuesday, April 28. Armstrong; program co-ordinator, Lucy Hesse; resolutions, Jean Bell, Lucy Hesse; nominating committee, Ruth Sauve, Ruth Baucr, Kathy Bridge; Tweedsmuir, Doris McCall, Kathy Bridge. Delegates were chosen for the District annual in Bluevale on May 12. Jean Fraser was nominated to set ;up the committees for the euchre parties for the coming year. The regular euchres will be held in the afternoons beginning in September. Gifts were given to show appreciation and support to the 4-H leaders in the area. The Ark Community Youth Drop-In Centre needs volunteers to serve on its Board of Directors. Parents and community members interested in the future direction of The Ark are asked to please attend. H. Elliott hosts WMS 25 dine out for Easter Rebekahs host Exeter sisters Helen Elliott welcomed the members of Melville Church's WMS to her home on April 6 for the regular meeting. The Easter programme in the Glad Tidings was followed. It included readings and hymns. The scripture readings were from Mark. Mrs. Elliott had the meditation. The prayers given in the programme were given by several members. The secretary's report was given by Thelma Cardiff and the treasurer's report by Leona Armstrong. The roll call was answered by each member reading a verse about Easter. Mrs. Armstrong gave the lesson from the study book "Loaves and Fishes". It was concerning food and was interesting. The Ark acknowledges the generosity of the following: During March Break, Betty Graber with St. John Ambulance, Merle Hoegy of Brussels Agromart, Jeff McGavin of McGavin Farm Equip., Marguerite Thomas of Public Health, Brussels Fire Department, Huron Tractor (Blyth) and Kevin & Jacquie Bishop (family & friends) of Shayrina Sheep Farm assisted in presenting a safety program to 22 children. The volunteer drivers were Isabel Prior, Barb Mutter, Shirley Livingston, Ken Josling and Barb Goetz. During this volunteer appreciation time, we would be remiss if we didn't express our gratitude to those that volunteer on a regular basis. Shirley Ann Bridge, Dave Sippel, Lisa Winger, Matt & Brett Lee, Krista Hastings, Pete Exel, Charles Corbett, Sue Gowing, Shelley Smith and Warren Wray. Additional volunteers are always needed to assist in working with the youth in drop-ins and the Summer Recreation Program. Board members also needed. If you can give approx. 8-10 hrs./month to help manage our youth centre and attend board meetings once monthly, contact us at the Ark. Jason, Mary-Lou and Brussels area youth.
