THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, APRIL 15, 1998. PAGE 19.
Following months of rehearsal
and plenty of practice blowing up
balloons, the cast of Waiting for G.
Doe is ready to party.
The surprise party for the
mysterious G. Doe is scheduled for
Friday and Saturday, May 1 and 2
at Blyth Memorial Hall and
everyone is invited to join the wait.
Staged as a fundraiser for the
Blyth Festival, Waiting for G. Doe
is a dinner/theatre event which
spotlights the talents of local actors.
Stepping into that spotlight to wait
for G. Doe will be Anne Elliott as
Mary Marples, the evening's
socialization specialist; Floyd
Herman as the irascible Bill
Stormington; Blanche Savage as
Bill's soon-to-be ex-wife Bev; Gary
Haist as Danny 'I'd Rather Be
Fishing' Pigeon and Kathleen
Babcock as his social climbing
wife, Denise.
Actor-writer George Seremba's
opposition to two bloody regimes
in his homeland of Uganda led to a
firing-squad execution — which he
survived. Now, having escaped and
immigrated to Canada, this talented
performer is telling his amazing
story of courage and hope through
a one-man show entitled Come
Good Rain.
Seremba's performance in Come
Good Rain has been internationally
heralded as "compelling",
"astonishing" and "something truly
magical". The Los Angeles
Entertainer calls the show ''an

Rounding out the cast for this
very special evening of
entertainment will be Kathleen
Scott, Kevin Falconer, Duncan
McGregor and Rob Bundy. And
since no party is complete without
tunes, music will be provided by
the Sparkletones under the
direction of Arlene Dambrough.
Tickets for Waiting for G. Doe
are priced at $25, which includes
dinner, or $15 for show only.
Reserve a place at the surprise
party of the year by calling the
Blyth Festival Box Office at 523-

says "Seremba shows how a
commanding actor can stand on an
almost bare stage and keep you in
his grip for two hours."
Joining Seremba on stage for this
epic piece of storytelling is
musician Emman Mutema. The
haunting sound of Mutema's
African drumming serves to
punctuate the action of Seremba as
well as to underscore the actor's
inspirational tale of survival.
Seremba will present Come Good
Rain at the Blyth Festival Tuesday,
May 19 beginning at 8 p.m. Tickets

It all started just a couple of years
ago when the producers of
Eurovision Song Contest needed a
'fill-in' while the judges were
making their final decisions. The
show was from Dublin, and to keep
an Irish flavour to the presentation,
a local producer came up with a
dramatic Irish dance routine. It
lasted for exactly seven minutes
and its name was Riverdance.
No one knew the impact
Riverdance was going to have on
over a hundred million viewers
worldwide. But history was made

Joseph And The Amazing
Technicolor Dreamcoat tells the
story of favourite son Joseph, who
is sold into slavery by his 11
jealous brothers when their father
Jacob gives him a fabulous coat of

wealthy Potiphar, whose wife fails
to seduce Joseph and has him
thrown in jail.
Because of his power to interpret

man. At the conclusion of this
kaleidoscope of song and dance,
Joseph reunites with his family and
forgives his brothers.

Conceived and produced by
