Grey accepts tenders bituaries ROBERT NEIL McGREGOR Robert McGregor passed away peacefully with family at his side in Alexandra Marine and General Hospital, Goderich on Friday, April 10, 1998. Bob was born in Ottawa in 1912, taking his early schooling there before attending McMaster University in the 1930s where he met his wife Blanche Viens. They married in Ottawa when Bob returned to teach science and music at Glebe Collegiate. Bob McGregor loved music and loved teaching. He started the famous Lyre's Club school choir in Ottawa before the family moved to Toronto in 1950 where he became supervisor of music for the Township of Etobicoke. He continued to study through his teaching years, earning several more degrees while moving on to become an outstanding principal of several schools in North York. A gifted story teller, he helped run summer camps for many years bringing his love of singing to the young campers' experiences. Bob and Blanche had three children, Heather, Duncan, and Cameron. Heather and her husband, Charlie, live in the Annapolis Valley, N.S. where Heather, an ordained minister, is a hospital chaplain. Duncan lives with his wife Lynda in Blyth where, in addition to his professional life as a teacher at Bluewater Secondary School, he is well known for his theatre productions for children. Cam lives in Edmonton, Alta with his wife, Jan, and works in ecology with the Alberta government. Bob also had four granddaughters, two step-grandchildren, and one great- granddaughter. In 1997, Bob and Blanche decided to make a new home for Bob at Versa Care (Maitland Manor) in Goderich where he could have the special help he needed. The care he received from the staff and from Dr. Harry Ceislar was not only professional but wonderfully personal and human. Blanche and family would like to thank the caring staff at the Goderich hospital and the McCallum and Palla Funeral Home for their understanding and respect for the needs of the family. They would also like to acknowledge the very special personal gifts of insight and empathy which the Rev. Nancy Beale brought to the family service for Bob in Goderich Saturday evening.
