UCW plans potluck annual

welcomed everyone to Easter
Sunday Confirmation and
Communion Service.
The junor choir of mixed voices
sang I Live and Hosannah
accompanied by Joanne Robinson
at the piano with Lila Procter
directing.
The senior choir sang Halleluia
accompanied by Elizabeth Procter
at the piano.
The children's story was "Jump
for Joy, We are Easter people."

The April meeting of the Evening
Unit to the UCW of Knox United
Church, Belgrave was held April 7
at the home of Laura Johnston with
14 present.
Roll call was answered by
naming an Easter song or hymn.
The card report was given.
Members were reminded about
the April event to be held at North
Street United Church, Goderich on
April 20 with registration at 6:30
p.m. The London Conference
Annual meeting is in Woodstock,
April 27 and 28. Advance tickets
for meals are necessary.
The UCW ham and scalloped
East Wawanosh Public School in
conjunction with the Belgrave
Kinsmen and Optimists will be
holding a talent auction on Friday,
April 24 at the school. Proceeds to
go towards new playground
equipment. For more information
contact the school at 357-2960 or
Doug Walker at 357-3555.
On Thursday, April 16 the Grade
WMS meets
at I. Cloakey's
The Belgrave WMs held its
meeting on Monday, April 6 at the
home of Ivy Cloakey.
Alice Nicholson gave the call to
worship and the hymn All Things
Bright and Beautiful was read.
Margaret Siertsema gave the
secretary report and Ivy gave the
treasurer's report. The roll was
answered by an Easter poem.
Thirty-eight sick and shut-in calls
were recorded.
Mrs. Siertsema, Ora Bruce and
Lottie Scott read scriptures. Mrs.
Nicholson, Mrs. Cloakey and Mrs.
Siertsema took the readings.

Easter story.
Welcomed into full membership

Amy Barnes, who was also
baptized, received a candle from
Rev. Hobden to light at a special
time in her life.
John McIntosh presented each
with a certificate and a Bible.
On Sunday, April 19 there will
be lunch following the service at
Knox United Church.
potato supper is on April 26 at the
church with tickets being sold in
advance.
The church banner is completed
and ready for hanging. Mrs.
Anderson expressed a thank you to
Ruth Gordon, Mary Hunter and the
quilters for their help.
The May meeting will be at the
home of Louise Bosman.
Mrs. Bosman introduced the
guest speaker. Beth Foulton, co-
owner of Pandora's Pantry. She
gave a very informative talk on
vitamins C & E as well as Ginsing.
Freda Johnston and Mrs.
Anderson conducted the worship
service.
8 students at EWPS are hosting a
ham and scalloped potato supper
with sittings at 5 and 7 p.m. Tickets
are available from any grade 8
student.
Girl Guides
see art show
Belgrave Girl Guides enjoyed the
show of local artists at the
Wingham Public Library on
Thursday, April 9.
Hosted by John Mann they
learned some tricks of the trade. A
special thanks to John for spending
time with the girls.
April 16 will be Girl Guide
Cookie Blitz in the village of
Belgrave and surrounding area.
Everyone is invited to attend the
Women's Institute annual meeting
and potluck meal to be held on
Tuesday, April 21 at 6:30 p.m. in
the Women's Institute Hall. Guest
speakers will be the winners of the
Science Fair and public speaking
competition at East Wawanosh
Public School.
Easter dinner guests of Mr. and
Mrs. Nancy Jardin and Darryl
included Tom and Ruth Jardin of
Blyth, Clare and Gladys VanCamp
of Brussels and Mike and Debbie
Jardin of Wingham.
The occasion also marked Mike's
25th birthday.
Mabel's Moms met at their
regular time on Wednesday, April
8.

Belgrave Community Club met
Friday, April 3 with the Blyth
Seniors as their guests.
A short business meeting was
conducted. The Spring Rally is to
be held at Holmesville, Tuesday,
April 21. A good attendance is
hoped for.
April shoot parties will be held
April 17 and April 24 at 1:30 p.m.
A date for the bus trip to Jackson
Point on Lake Simcoe to see Anne
of Green Gables will be chosen at
the next meeting.
