Sharon and Fred Stephenson, long-time residents
of Brussels, converted their home to natural gas
over a year ago by installing a fireplace and water
heater. They have since added another gas
fireplace upstairs.
Previously, they heated their home with electric
baseboards and radiant ceiling heat. With the gas
heat, Sharon believes the "house is warmer, and
more comfortable." This is very important to
Sharon, a Sales Manager with Avon, because she
does a lot of work from home. Sharon also said
that they "do not have any moisture problems on
their windows" since installing natural gas heat.
In addition to increased comfort, Sharon is happy
with natural gas because she "is saving a couple of
hundred dollars a month through winter." In fact,
she believes that her total energy bills are "about
40% less with natural gas."
Sharon and Fred "like dealing with local people" so
they contacted John Pennington, a Union Gas
Member Dealer, to help with their conversion.
According to Sharon, "John came out to see us
when it was convenient for us and he took the time
to explain all of our options."
As for service, Sharon said "they cleaned up after
so that you wouldn't know they were there." "John
even came out on a Sunday night to talk to us
about our pilot light," commented Sharon.
The Stephensons certainly enjoyed dealing with
John Pennington. "If anyone asks," Sharon said,
"I'll tell them to go see John."
