Huron County Is proposing to designate the Morris Township Landfill Slte as the North Huron Zone Landfill Site. This meeting Is called to explain the effects on the Township of Morris Landfill Site. The council will also Introduce their proposal for the future of the Landfill Site. Rev. Mary Jane Hobden welcomed everyone. A Christian Home and Morning Has Broken Morris Twp. picks option After much discussion at the individual councils, Morris Twp. agreed with Brussels and Grey Twp. to accept option three for the BMG Community Centre board budget. The option chosen at the March 17 meeting, would see the $30,000 expense for a new heating/ air con- ditioning unit deleted from the bud- get and no transfer from reserve. The Morris Twp. levy will be $14,498.26, up $4,140 from the levy recommended initially by the council. The Maitland Valley Conserva- tion Authority levy will remain at $8,936.82. Due to the relatively small amount of snow this season, the township saved approximately $30,000 on snowplowing costs from January to March, compared to the same time period in 1996-97. A public meeting will be held April 2, to explain the county waste management master plan and dis- cuss the bag tag option. The cost of 9-1-1 signs will be added to the general tax levy. The road and property signs will be erected by the road crew. The township will proceed with the paving of Centre Sideroad at Cone. 4. Large item pickup day was set for May 20, for the hamlets with curbside pickup. A swap day will also be investigated. A letter will be sent to the Huron County Humane Society stating that Skukum Kennels looks after animal control for the township and they try to find homes for dogs run- ning at large. Township polo shirts will be sold for $5 and t-shirts for $3 at Brus- sels Crafters Market. Council agreed to pay the $250 annual membership for Ontario Good Roads and $90 to the Water- loo/Oxford Drain Superintendent Chapter. Authorization was given for Clerk-Treasurer Nancy Michie to attend the clerks' conference in June and a seminar in Meaford in April. were sung. Hymns were Let us with a Gladsome Mind and Spirit, Spirit of Gentleness. The senior mixed choir sang Come Unto Me accompanied by Elizabeth Procter at the piano. The Old Testament reading was taken from Isaiah 43; 16-21 and the gospel lesson from John 12: 1-8. The children gathered in the front pew for story time. Rev. Hobden asked the children what the meaning of generous was. The reply was give what you have including love to others. Karen Hallahan and Heather Hopper were in charge of nursery. The children adjourned for Sunday School. Tania Pletch and Shawn Cottrifl participated in a dialogue. Rev. Hobden portrayed Mary in a monologue. Becky Logan and Kendra Folkard took up the offering followed by the singing of the offertory song All That I Am. The pancake supper is on Wednesday, April 1 at Knox United Church from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. Everyone is welcome. Sunday, April 5 is Palm Sunday. There will be a Good Friday service on April 10 at 11 a.m. at Knox United. Everyone is welcome. Margaret Fear was able to return to her home in Belgrave last Thursday, having undergone open heart surgery for aortic valve replacement on Oct. 30 in Victoria Health Science Centre in London. She returned to Wingham and District Hospital Nov. 16 where she was a patient until Dec. 19. She spent the last three months convalescing in Braemar retirement centre. Margaret says, "it's Heaven", to be in her own home again. Games There were 11 tables of euchre in play at the Women's Institute Hall on Wednesday, March 25. Winners were: high lady, Mary Taylor, second high lady, Viola Adams; lone hands, Louise Bosman; low lady, Aileen Leddy; high man, Ross Taylor, second high man, Bob Grasby; lone hands, Lillian Appleby; low man, Jack Taylor. There will be euchre again on Wednesday, April 1. Everyone's welcome. At the Belgrave Community Centre on Friday, March 27 there were 10 tables of shoot in play. Winners were: high lady, Jean Deyell; second high lady, Jane Grasby; most shoots, Olive Bolt; low lady, Ada Taylor; high man, Kay Rich; second high man, Bob Grasby; most shoots, Garner Nicholson; low man, Jean Plaetzer. The next shoot is Friday, April 17. Everyone is welcome. The seniors bowling scores for Wednesday, March 25 were Eleanor Neill, 111; Evelyn Caslick, 206, 98; Jean Walker, 115, 145; Raymond Neill, 117, 224; Lorne Campbell, 216, 157; Largaret McInnes, 157, 130; Louise Bosman, 126, 162; Ivy Cloakey, 120, 105; Alice Nicholson, 90, 117; Helen Underwood, 108, 110. Marjorie Stopforth and Alexandra of Oakville visited with her mother Beth Procter and stayed overnight. Ashley Irwin of Ashfield Twp. spent last weekend at her grandmother's Betty Irwin. Linda, Jeremy and Justin Campbell spent a few days in the March break at the Grand Bend. Nature girls Seven Belgrave Guides visited the farm of Mike Maihiot from MNR and learned about habitats and conservation methods. They examined fur pelts and constructed woodduck boxes. The girls enjoyed a campfire snack. Warm breezes made their two kilometre hike very enjoyable.
