Students prepare for concert
By Brook Wheeler and Jodi Sellers
Again, another exciting week at
Brussels Public School! We're all
looking forward to having a
wonderful March Break.
This week in kindergarten they've
been doing lots of interesting stuff.
Each class has been working on
making St. Patrick's Day cards for
their parents. Every day they are
enjoying playing with their house,
blocks and matching games.
Grade Is are making fruit and
vegetable people on their sand-
wiches. That is part of the nutrition
unit they started. They also made
geometrical zoo animals with
construction paper.
The Grade 2 class is working on
making clay objects. They made
3D cubes and decorated them.
Grade 3s are learning new 'times
tables' in multiplication. Just like
the kindergartens they are making
St. Patrick's Day cards. They added
surprise snakes that pop out of their
cards. Missy Kroll brought in her
bunny, Gizmo, to show to the class.
The Grade 4 class is doing a play
about "Where The Wild Things
Arc." In French class they are
learning emotions. In math class
they are doing 3D shapes.
Grade 5 has also been using clay.
They made animals with it. They
made dice in math class. In French
class they've been working on the
unit "Clowns" and also emotions.
Grade 6/7 has been learning
about Shakespearean plays. They've
been working on Hamlet, Romeo &
Juliet, and Comedy of Errors.

Grade 7/8 is working on a
nutrition unit on a new program
called Hyper Studio.
In math, both grades have been
learning flips, slides and turns. Sam
and Kyle left for France on
Wednesday, March 11. Their
exchange students will be coming
here on April 7 for two weeks.
In French class we are learning
strategies for learning French,
listening for words that sound like
English, using gestures, asking
questions and repeating words. We
just got through studying irregular
verbs. In health we finished a
"Changes" unit.
On Friday all classes went
skating at the Brussels, Morris and
Grey arena. Grades 4 to 8 have
started floor hockey at noon hour.
Also Grades 4-8 started to work on
the spring concert that is happening
in April.
