THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, MARCH 11, 1998. PAGE 15. WI to hear of Egypt Ready to rock and roll The members of the Seaforth District High School All Girls Marching Band are heading south to participate in a competition in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The band will be performing routines to Beatles and Beach Boys music. Kindergartens study letter V The WI will meet March 18 at the Walton Hall at 7:30 p.m. It is an open meeting with everyone welcome to come and hear Jean Bewley talk about her trip to Egypt. George and Gloria Love took the first prize home when playing euchre at the Walton Hall. Lloyd and Lillian Appleby won second prize and Tom and Eileen Sloan took the third prize. Ladies' lone hand winner was B. McClinchey and Clarence Hoy won the men's lone hand. Mille Johnston and Ila Pollock were winners of the 50/50 draw. If you enjoyed the Valentine's dinner at the Hall in February then you'll be looking forward to the St. Patrick's Beef Supper on March 22., The Walton kindergartens looked at the letter V this past week and made voluptuous, vivacious violets which were tied with velvet ribbons. Taylor Bennewies received the kindness button' this past week and Nancy Lazenby volunteered in the class. Ever since 1994, Mrs. Scott has predicted whether March came in like a lion or a lamb. So far her class predictions have been accurate every other year. So this year her kindergartens predicted that since March came in like a lamb it will go out like a lion. This could be the year that they could be. correct. Well friends, it appears that at last good ole Spike has now_ turned into his Pupa stage. Spike is somewhat slow in his activities as it took him 32 days. The majority of the meal worms changed in 28 days. The Grade 1/2s have been studying plants. They have just now planted seeds in plastic zip- lock bags with the moist dirt on the Marg and Ross Bennett greeted at Duffs United Church on March 8. Rev. James Murray greeted everyone and the Call to Worship was given with the singing of the Introit, Holy, Holy, Holy. After the reading of the gospel lesson the combined choirs sang, Precious Memories with Don McDonald singing the first verse solo, the second verse with his granddaughter, Sarah McDonald, the third verse with Patty Banks and Marion Godkin and everyone sang the last verse together. Rev. Murray announced that the beautiful array of flowers were placed at the front of the church by the McDonald family in memory of Ken McDonald, who passed away last weekend. He also announced that if there were any children from the age of 13 (or who will turn 13 this year) and up, interested in being confirmed this year to get in touch with him. Adults interested in joining the church are to contact him as well. Summer camp registration forms are available at the church. All IGA - Brussels, Knechtel's - Blyth and Zehrs grocery tapes are to be in by March 15. Rev. Murray's sermon was called, "What do you do when the boat won't stop rocking?" There are times, he said, when it feels like the boat is rocking and nothing will make it stop. "Every time we turn around someone is losing a job or a friend moves away, an illness bottom and the seeds planted about one inch from the dirt. The seeds are to sprout and head for the dirt. Being in plastic bags the children will be able to watch. They have also planted some marigold seeds in containers and also have a sweet potato sitting in water to see if it will root. The Grade 3/4s are learning about farm safety. They have finished with their Nagano activities and many gold, silver and bronze medals were handed out. They have also been concentrating on story writing. This week bunnies Coke and Pepsi went home for the weekend with Jamie Reinink. Congratulations to Laura Bowers who won third place in the story telling division for Grade 1 - 3 at the Legion speech competition last weekend. Katie Williamson who also represented Walton school did a great job as well. The Grade 2/3s finished up their animal unit by making puppets and plays of the animal they chose. develops or a marriage falls apart. Every day and in every way the boat rocks." "Sometimes we roll with the waves, sometimes we can steer around the obstacles. Sometimes we get caught in the rapids and are spun around by a whirlpool." When a canoe is rocking, the best thing to do is simply hang on. "Get low in the boat, and hang on to the gunnels so you aren't as likely to flip over. When our life is rocking, the best thing we can do is hang on. Get a hold of the people who are near you and hang on for dear life," he said. "We help each other by our act of being there as friends and being willing to listen. Prayer is what you do when you hit the white waters of your life. With prayer we let God in and open the possibility for God to start to change things. All you have to do is ask for help for 'Behold I stand at the door and knock!' When the boat won't stop rocking, prayer can help." Rev. Murray concluded his message with a verse from the Psalms - "Wait for the Lord! Be strong! Let God fill your heart with courage! Wait for the Lord!" THE WAR AMPS- Child amputees say DRIVESAFE1 For more Information call: 1-800-250-3030 Bennetts greet at Duff's
