Brussels Juveniles travelled to
Thedford on Saturday• night for
game three of the OMHA semi-
final.
The first 10 minutes of the game
looked like a repeat of last
Sunday's 3-2 overtime loss.
Thedford was enjoying a 2-1 lead
with two seconds remaining in the
period when they caught Brussels
off-guard and ended the period
with a two-goal advantage.
Brussels' goal was scored by Chris
Stewart, with assists to Brian
Marks and Chad Haggitt.
In the second period Thedford

Continued from page 6 giving Blyth a 4-2 win.
Give the Midgets credit for
keeping their composure
throughout the series and also for
raising their game to another level
in the final two games when
Walpole Island finally decided to
play hockey.
When needed, the Bulldogs
proved to be the better team and
deserved the honour of advancing
to the OMHA Championship series
by winning the series.
Blyth's opponents in the finals
will be the winner between Beaver
Valley and Sunderland. Their series
is currently tied at 2-2 with the
deciding game this coming
weekend. Stay tuned for series
details.
Manager Allan Craig said, "The
Bulldogs played well and we're
glad we finished the series on
Sunday at home. It was great to see
another big crowd out to offer
support."
This is an exciting time for Blyth
Minor Hockey. The Midgets have
advanced to the finals while the
Bantams face Walpole Island in
OMHA semi-finals and the
PeeWees square off against
Bothwell, also in OMHA semi-
finals. Catch all the action as three
Bulldogs teams continue their quest
for an All Ontario championship
zone.
Walpole tied the game 1-1 with a
shorthanded goal midway through
the second stanza. With two
minutes and 40 seconds left in the
first the Bulldogs regained the lead
while enjoying a powerplay
advantage.
Gerrits earned his second assist
of the game as he teamed up with
Mike Courtney, who found the
back of the net. The Bulldogs
couldn't hold the lead however as
the visitors tied the game with just
over one minute left in the period
on a partial breakaway blast.
Blyth played one of their best
periods of hockey in the series
during the third as they realized
how close they were to advancing
to the championship finals. Their
persistence finally paid off with
four and a half minutes left in the
game. Steve Oldfield and Chris
Carter did the legwork and Darryl
Bromley provided the heroics as he
skated in front of the Walpole
Island goal and slipped the puck
through the goalie's legs.
Blyth kept the pressure on as the
clock wound down and the game
was finally decided when Haggitt
notched an empty net goal with
only nine seconds remaining,
