The Legion was hosting the all- Ontario cribbage tournament and Eric Ross attended the meeting to ask for a donation of pins or pens from the village. Council gave approximately 250 pens and approximately 25 lapel pins. *** Council passed an interim tax bylaw. The due date is March 25. *** Approval was given for Clerk- Treasurer Donna White to proceed with an application for the province's Special Circumstances Fund. In explaining the request to council Clerk-Treasurer Donna White called the application meant to offset costs of downloading and restructuring, "one of the most frus- trating things I have had to deal with." "It appears there is no criteria, that everything will be firmed up alter they find out what the requests are." Some municipalities, she said, are applying for funds for every- thing, up to $4-500,000. White said, she had come up with a figure of $9,000, primarily to cover the shortfall for policing. Local clerks she said had met for lunch and decided that they would apply for what they felt were "spe- cial circumstances." However, she added, that she intended to include a clause with other requests for consideration if applicable.
