The Huron detachment of the
Ontario Provincial Police are
issuing an alert to all citizens,
especially the elderly, pertaining to
a fraud dealing with a
misrepresentation of blankets being
held out to be handwoven.
A female suspect has been
making cold calls on numerous
rural residences in the Blyth area
and attempting to sell blankets that
she claims she made herself on a
loom. She asks upwards of $400
per blanket, then will lower the
price if the potential buyer balks at

The restructuring of
administration and support services
has freed up the resources allowing
us to offer this new patient care
service without any additional
funding from the Ministry.
"Patient satisfaction is high, as is
the pride our staff and community
feel in our ability to provide this
service to our community," said
Marg Makins, chair of the Clinton

A check on some of the blankets
sold has determined that they are of
substandard quality and machine
made by a computer-generated
loom. They would be worth at most
$60 at any department store.
The suspect is well known to
police and is described as being a
white female, 56 years of age,
stout, wearing glasses. She has a
slight Scottish or English accent.
Anyone having been approached
by this woman is asked to contact
the Huron Detachment of the OPP
