Chief Building Official Grant
Anger attended the Jan. 19 meeting
of Grey Twp. council to discuss the
building report for 1997.
In a comparison with 1996 num-
bers, building revenue in Grey
"Twp. has increased.
Residential permits jumped from
18 to 26 with the dollar value rising
from $584,996 to $1.13 million.
Though farm related permits
remained relatively stable in the
high 30s, the dollar value almost
doubled from $3,853,800 to
$6,857,500.

Sympathy
to family
The community extends
sympathy to the family of the late
John (Jack) Conley, a former long-
time resident of Cranbrook.
The hall board will host a euchre
party on Friday, Feb. 6 at 8 p.m.
Everyone is welcome.
Dave McArthur is presently in
hospital following knee surgery.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery
from friends and neighbours.
The second game in this series
will be Sunday, Feb. 8 at 2 p.m. in
Lions Head.
The team appreciates the fans
who have supported them this
season and hopes that it will
continue in their playoff drive.
Anger explained the large value
increase with actually less permits
by saying that permits were now
being issued to include numerous
structures for one farm when it had
previously been done on separate
permits.
In 1996, two commercial permits
were valued at $28,500 while one
in 1997 was calculated at $100,000.
Industrial construction was the
only area of decreased action.
Three permits totalled $188,000 in
1996 with one permit for $75,000
in 1997.
The cost recovery for building
permits also rose substantially from
154.85 per cent over cost to 259 per
cent.
Clerk-Treasurer Brad Knight
qualified these numbers saying that
