THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 14, 1998. 0 bituaries MARGARET JEAN TAYLOR Margaret Jean Taylor, formerly of Lucknow and Walton passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Dec. 30, 1997 at Huronlea Nursing Home, Brussels at the age of 60. Born in Manawaki, Quebec on June 16, 1937, Marg was the daughter of the late Rolland Achilles and his wife Christina (Tini) McCallum of Walton. Prior to her illness Marg was employed at Spinrite Yarns in Listowel where she was employed for many years. She was also the librarian in the Walton Library until its demise. Left to mourn her passing are her mother Christina (Tini) Achilles of the Seaforth Manor Nursing Home, her dear children Rick and Tammy Taylor of Dungannon, Wayne and Lynn McDonagh of Lucknow and Brian Taylor of Walton, her brother Jerry and Linda Achilles of Bellwood, and sister Anne and Jim Sills of Seaforth. Also surviving are four granddaughters Breanne, Hilary, Robin and Bailey McDonagh. She is survived as well by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. Margaret was predeceased by her brother Don Achilles 1976, her son Brad Taylor 1989, and her father Rolland Achilles in 1996. Visitation was held at the Whitney-Ribey Funeral Home in Seaforth on Jan. 1 with funeral services on Friday, Jan. 2 from the funeral home with Rev. James Murray officiating. Pallbearers were Marg's nephews Dan Achilles, Kevin Anderson, Dwayne Achilles, Ted Sills, Don Sills and Tim Sills. Flower bearers were her nieces Chris Ney, Tracey McKee, Karen Achilles, Jennifer Anderson, Sue Achilles and long time friend Janet Mitchell. Spring interment at Brussels Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Cancer Society were appreciated as expressions of sympathy. THOMAS MILLER Thomas Miller of Brussels, passed away at Seaforth Communi- ty Hospital, Tuesday, Jan. 6, 1998. He was 85. He was the beloved husband of the late Harriet Miller, loving father of Lennis Miller of Woodstock, Thomas Miller and Jennifer Mac- Donald of Brussels and Doris and Wayne Gibbons of Lucknow and loved grandfather of six grandchil- dren. Mr. Miller was the dear brother of David and Jack Miller and Mona Tunney. Rev. Nancy Beale officiated at the funeral service held at Betts Funeral Home, Jan. 9. Interment was at Brussels Ceme- tery. In remembrance, donations to St. John's Anglican Church or Huron County Home Care would be appreciated by the family. Red Cross aids storm victims The Canadian Red Cross 1-800 number to accept funds for victims of the recent ice storms can only be used within Ontario. Callers from outside the province of Ontario should contact their local Red Cross branch. Within Ontario..the number is 1- 800-850-5090. Positions were filled and chairs selected by the new Huron-Perth Catholic District School Board at the Dec. 15 inaugural meeting. Ron Marcy, trustee for Stratford, was elected to the role of chair, while Vipce McInnes, representa- tive for Seaforth, Brussels, North Perth, Perth East and the Town- ships of McKillop, Grey and How- ick will sit as vice-chair. Chairs of the committees are: Bernard Murray, Usborne, Perth South, St. Marys and West Perth, education; Mike Miller, Exeter, Hensall, Zurich, Bayfield and the Townships of Stephen, Hay, Tuck- ersmith, Stanley and Goderich, Melville WMS met in the home of Isobel Gibson for their December meeting. It opened with the singing of the carol It Came Upon a Midnight Clear. Helen Elliott had the meditation. It was entitled "The Coming". Isobel Gibson read the scripture from Matthew, chapter one. The carol 0 Little Town of Bethlehem was sung. The minutes of the November meeting were read by Thelma Cardiff and the treasurer's report by management and Louise Martin, Clinton, Goderich, Wingham, Blyth and the Townships of Col- borne, Ashfield, Hullett, Tumberry, Morris and East and West Wawanosh, personnel. With the re-alignment of the boards, the new district board approved a motion which would see all policies of the Huron-Perth County Roman Catholic School Board remain in force until amend- ed by the board. A trustee allowance of $5,000 per year, exclusive of expenses, was set. The head office will remain in Dublin. Leona Armstrong. These reports were approved as read. The roll call was answered by each member reading a verse from a Christmas card. The offering was received and dedicated. The carol Joy to the World was sung. Each member then gave a short Christmas reading. The hymn As With Gladness Men of Old was sung. Rev. Cathrine Campbell closed the meeting with a prayer.
