Morris donates $42,120 to Wescast Industries A motion was passed at the Dec., 9 meeting of Morris council to donate $42,120 to Wescast Industries to offset site preparation costs. Total costs included $18,504 for highway alter­ ations to service the site, $12,000 for paving from the highway to the property line, $1,200 for certificate of approval for water, $2,140 for sanitary hookup fee, $650 for drain abandonment consulting and $8,100 for site grading and a drainage plan. The full bill amounted to $42,594. A letter of intent was sent to Team North Huron. In response to a second request from neighbouring residents of Brussels regard­ ing annexation talks, Morris Twp. council agreed to for­ ward a letter to group repre­ sentatives Joyce Jacklin and Philip Graber. The letter stat­ ed that due to amalgamation with Turnberry Twp., the annexation request cannot be considered at this time. With 911 signs up at road intersections and numbering of rural locations complete, hamlet residents will be com­ pensated $20 (the cost of a 911 sign and post) for house numbers which need to be replaced. After questions from a neighbouring landowner, council appointed Andy McBride to inspect and assess the lands of Lot 23 and 24, South Part cone. 8 and Lot 23, North Part Cone. 9, for a just proportion of the McCall Municipal Drain. McBride will also determine if surface water from that property is drained to the Bly th Creek Drain or the McCall Drain. Paul Gowing resigned from the BMG recreation board. Harold Piggett was asked to thin the pines at the landfill site for $12 per cord for approximately 100 cord. There was concern expressed by a landowner regarding trees being dragged along the road at Sideroad 5/6, Cone. 7. Council said the contractor would have to smooth the road and leave it in the same condition as prior to construction. A grant of $50 was given to Wingham Palliative Care. Road, general and park accounts in the amounts of $36,362.32, $276,970.93 and $470.82, respectively, were approved for payment. During the recreation committee meeting, a motion was passed to approved payment of accounts in the amount of $4,036.52.
