Bobbi Jo Shiell played a steady game between the pipes for Wingham in this physical contest. Great defense from Sarah McDonald, Danielle Good, Bridget Kellington and Tori Whitfield kept Milverton at bay. After a scoreless first, the Wingham offensive onslaught began with four second-period goals. Bulging twine were Brittany Campbell, Allison Quennell, Nicole Stewart and Ashley Ritchie. Assists went to Quennell, Brittany Campbell, Michelle Cook, Brandi Thompson, Whitfield and Kellington. Wingham increased their lead in the third when Cook snuck two past the Milverton netminder followed by one from Whitfield. Milverton finally got one past Shiell, only to have Nicole Stewart, off a play from Cook, cancel it. Then with 90 seconds remaining in the game, Ritchie lit the light for the final time. It was a closer match in Wallace on Sunday with the home team edg ing Wingham 6-5. The hosts took an early lead scor ing two in the first to Wingham’s one. Cook, on a power play, with assists from Stewart and Rachel Elliott got it past the Wallace goalie. Cook and Stewart continued their teamwork tieing it up in the second. Wallace answered with two of their own to regain the lead before the period ended. The home squad increased its lead with an early third-period goal. Then it was Stewart’s turn, assisted by Cook, who bulged the twine with two of her own to bring Wingham within one. Things got really excit ing when Campbell, assisted by Cook, scored the tie-maker with just a little over a minute remaining in the game. Then in the dying seconds Wallace snuck one in to seal the vic tory. Seeing plenty of action in this game, Quennell did a great job in net to help keep her team in the game.
