St. Anne’s considers school uniforms Uniforms are an option being considered by St. Anne’s Catholic Secondary School students and par­ ents. At the parent-teacher interviews recently, parents had the opportuni­ ty to view a possible uniform choice while the students had had a glimpse during class. Vice-principal McCarroll said packages are being sent home so discussions can be held. Informa­ tion will also be sent to Grade 7 and 8 students prior to their visit to 19 at Blyth UCW meeting The last meeting of the year for the Blyth UCW was held the evening of Nov. 23 in the church parlour with 19 ladies present. Diane Ferguson opened the business portion of the meeting with members repeating the UCW purpose. Shirley Rutledge gave the secretary’s report, Joann Mcdonald the treasurer’s report and Lenora Davidson the card report. Happy Birthday was sung to Ollie Craig. Frances Bearss and Annie Sparling conducted a Christmas worship service. Carols were sung, scripture, poems, and prayer read. In lieu of an offering, gifts were given to the Women’s Shelter. Susan Howson provided musical accompaniment with her autoharp. Following the worship service, the three presidents Bonnie Shannon, Candice Howson and Diane Ferguson, presented the program. Mrs. Ferguson opened with a poem, after which, each member was asked to give a memory of a Christmas past. Mrs. Howson read a Christmas story and Mrs. Sparling sang Oh Holy Night. Edelgard Hoba, Hanni Meier and Lorna Fraser provided a delicious lunch on a beautifully decorated table. WMS meets in Stratford The Presbyterian Women’s Missionary Society held the fall conference in North Mornington Church. Wilma Thompson and Peggy Inglis of Atwood Northern Auxiliary, looked after registration with over 70 members present. The evening program opened with a sing-song led by Vice- President Shirley Aitcheson. Margaret Allen welcomed everyone. Literature Secretary Bev Nichol presented a review of several books that were available from the book table display. Laureen Madge sang two solos. She was accompanied by Diane McIntosh. It was announced that Mission Awareness Sunday will be held on the last Sunday of April each year. It was suggested that WMS consider making banners for sister churches. The annual meeting will be held Continued on page 24 the school in early December. An open forum meeting will be held Dec. 15 for all parents of stu­ dents in Grade 7 to OAC. For those who missed the oppor­ tunity to see the uniform, it is on display in the front hall of St. Anne’s. The cost of the policy from Frank Cowan Insurance is $53,003. Don McCann’s resignation was accepted and Brock Appel was hired as a teacher.
