Students prepare for concert
In the absence of a report from
the girls at Hullett Central School
this week I thought I would inform
you of some overall happenings.
Nov. 22 was report card day for the
fall term. As a result, parent/teacher
interviews were held the evening of
Nov. 25 and during the day on
Nov. 26. This necessitated a PD
day or holiday for the pupils.
Much preparation is being done
for their Christmas Concert to be
held on Wednesday evening, Dec.
15.
The SAC Committee has decided
to purchase a video camera for
school use with Club Z points. The
school collects Zehrs and
Knechtel’s tapes for the purchase
of new library books.
UPC svmbols from Keliogg’s
products are collected to earn
valuable educational resources.
Simply collect the whole box top
with the UPC symbol.
Tapes and box tops can be
dropped off at the school office.
Hopefully you will keep these
facts in mind as you do your gift
and grocery shopping for the
holidays and into the new year.

You could sense the excitement
the instant you entered the door at
Londesboro United Church this
past Sunday. This was the day of
the annual White Gift Service.
Jack and Helen Lee were the
greeters while Harris and Brenda
Snell served coffee and muffins.
The poinsettias at the front of the
sanctuary are compliments of
Scrimgeour’s Food Market in
Blyth. Also part of the decorations
was a beautiful Christmas tree
newly purchased by the Sunday
School. The flowers on the
memorial stand were placed by the
family of the late Clifford
Shobbrook.
During the children’s time
Caitlin Pollard and Rev. Ross lit
the second Advent candle - the
candle of peace. Stickers for each
day of the coming week were
added to the Christmas sticker
picture.
The pageant presented by the
Sunday School was A Christmas
Journey. Cast was: narrator, Terry
Radford; Joseph, Dakota Riley;
Mary, Jackie Mitchell; angel,
Meaghan Wheeler; shepherds, Eric
Radford, Shawn Drost, Alex
Stephenson; wisemen, Rachel
Snell, Kelly Stephenson, Kendra
Falconer; young people, Tonya
Drost, Amanda Falconer, Amanda
Mitchell; innkeeper, Matt Goodall;

Three young people, learning of
amazing happenings in a
Bethlehem stable, decide to
investigate. They discover a bag of
gold. In their journey to return the
coins to the family of the Christ
child, they learn more from the
innkeeper, shepherds and wisemen.
The youth group will meet at the
Goodall’s on Thursday, Dec. 9 at
7 p.m. for the making of Christmas
crafts.
At the recent meeting of the
official board for Londesboro
United Church both the board of
stewards and the manse committee
announced plans to do renovations.
The manse committee feels they
have completed work on the manse
exterior and want to start changes
on the interior - beginning with the
living and dining rooms. From the
top down is how the board of
stewards described their plans,
citing the need for the new soffit
and fascia.
Remember that time is money
and both groups will be looking for
volunteer help. A few hours of
donated time may help you fill a
long dark winter day. Expect to
hear more of these plans in the new
year.
