gets items to donate
On a snowy Monday, Nov. 29
the Walkerburn Club met at Ila
Cunningham’s festively-decorated
home.
The meeting opened with a
reading by Vera Penfound and a
prayer by Ethel Ball, who also read
a newspaper article about the late
Lois Hallam Reuger, who grew up
in this area.
Two boxes full of knitted
children’s sweaters and lap robes
were shown. They were beautifully
made by Vaughan Hunking of
London. The club will give the
latter to nursing homes. The
children’s things will be given
where needed. The club is very
grateful to Vaughan for this
beautiful and useful work.
Betty Archambault invited the
club to her home for the January
meeting.
A large table had been laden with
a variety of items and auctioneer
Betsey conducted a miscellaneous
sale which grossed around $42.
Mrs. Cunningham led in the
surprise singing of Happy Birthday
to Kay Lapp. Bernice Norman
presented her with a beautiful
chocolate birthday cake in honour
of her upcoming special birthday.
Musical prelude with Bernice
Gross, organist welcomed all to the
Knox United at 9:45 a.m. on Dec.
5.
The children came to the front
and the white gifts were presented.
Rev. Paul Ross spoke to the
children on Christ and the seals
were placed on the picture.
Rev. Ross read from Isaiah 40.
This speaks of God’s wonders.
Regardless of what happens on this
earth remember that God always
comes and life continues, he said.
The New Testament reading was
from Mark. Rev. Ross’s sermon
was Playing Second Fiddle. The
spoke of John’s birth and of his
nature. He spoke of the different
personality of John and how he
always worked for others. No one
should mind being under someone

between the opposing pipes to
finish Blyth’s scoring for the period
but was answered by Zurich with
just over two minutes remaining
before the buzzer.
Chalmers deflected an abundance
of rival shots, facing many
breakaway plays bravely on his
own as Zurich swarmed the Blyth
squad hammering in another six
goals. Tyler Black, Aaron Popp and
Lukas Witherspoon contributed to
many advances made towards the
opponents net but were spumed by
the tenacious visitors. Cronin found
the mark once more, assisted by
Cook and Tyler Middegaal to
conclude the tally.
Coaches Steve Sparling and
Dwight Chalmers will be keeping
the Tykes working industriously as
they prepare for their first
tournament this weekend in Elma
