The Atoms travel to Wingham Tuesday at 8:45 p.m. to play their first game in the Silver Stick Tournament against Ripley. Atoms have tough week against Bayfield, Zurich It’s been a tough week for the Atom Bulldogs with two losses against Bayfield and Zurich. The team travelled to Bayfield, Nov. 29 and were shutdown by their hosts. The ‘Dogs did every thing but put the puck in the net. Josh Albrechtas put a shot off the post and Darcey Cook had a num ber of breakaways, but was stonewalled by the goalie each time. Joel Salverda did a great job in net for the ‘Dogs, keeping the Bay- field scoring down. At home Dec. 2, the team fared just slightly better losing this one 5-1. From the drop of the first puck this was a physical contest. Zurich tallied early. Despite a powerplay opportunity giving them a two-man advantage, Blyth struggled to find the net. Justin Dobie tied the score on a feed by Darcey Cook in the first but that was the end. Though the Bulldogs had several chances, they failed to stuff any more behing the Zurich netminder. Goalie Jeff Elliott did a great job in the Bulldogs net making several amazing saves to gives his teama- mates the hope of a comeback. Coach Haggitt said he was pleased with the team effort. “We just couldn’t buy a break.” Emphasis, he said, would be placed on improving the play of the specialty units.
