Kathy’s Korner
By Kathy Bromley
On Friday. Dec. 3 in the Blyth Anglican Church 47 people were present
and five deliveries were made for the traditional Christmas meal provided
by Town and Country Homemakers. Kathy Bromley donated freshly-baked
buns. Leah Davis welcomed everyone and opened with grace.
This month Cenetta Bainton won the 50/50 draw and Shirley Nicholson
won the door prize.
Those having birthdays in December are Kathy Bromley, Frank Elliott,
Marian Haggitt, John Hesselwood, Kay Lapp and Jean Plaetzer. There are
no anniversaries this month. With Leah Davis on maternity leave as of Dec.
22 Kathy Bromley presented her with a going away present to “pamper”
herself while she can! Taking over the position for Leah is Susan Armstrong
who attended the meal and became acquainted with everyone.
Darlene Vander Veen and Debbie Siertsema sang numerous carols to get
everyone into the Christmas spirit.
The next Town and Country Homemakers meal is scheduled for Jan. 2
with Sr. Const. Don Shropshall making the first presentation of the two-part
series on winter driving.
Plan to make a New Year’s resolution to come out and take part in the
monthly meal program.
On Monday, Nov. 29 in Bainton’s Art Gallery there were enough people
in attendance to have four tables in play for euchre. The high scorers were
Carol Daer and Jack Blake, while Jean Plaetzer and Ruth Shiell had the low
scores. The most lone hands were earned by Bernice McClinchey and
Evelyn Christensen for the men.
Special thanks are extended to Bernice McClinchey and Dorothy Daer for
donating the prizes.
On Wednesday, Dec. 1 lost heir had three tables in use. The high scores
went to Marie Bromley and Graeme McDowell, with runners-up being Ruth
Shiell and Bev Bromley. The low scores went to Joanne McDonald and
Charlie Bromley.
The prizes were compliments of the Blyth Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Lost
heir resumes again on Jan. 5 in the Art Gallery.
Kathy’s Quote of the Week: Most children eat spinach so that they will
grow up to be big and strong enough to tell mom what she can do with the
spinach.
