Walton Grade 3 students
display French pet puppets
The Walton kindergarten
students studied the letter H this
past week, so ‘ole Charlie’, the
hobby horse came out of the closet
for some fun.
The students also traced their
hands, and later hopped around
until they ‘huffed’. The senior
kindergartens began printing words
using sounds.
Grades l/2 are now into science
and technology. They are being
challenged with making single
machines which have wheels and
axles. The very creative class first
made doors with real hinges using
cardboard for the door and straw,
skewers and masking tape for the
hinges and they really worked.
The Grade 3s have their French
pet puppets displayed on a wall
outside in the hallway. The unit is
called, Animaux de Compagnie.
For creative reading they
fashioned a story after the
wonderful book called, Alexander
and the Terrible, Horrible, No
good, Very Bad Day. Their stories
were called, Mrs. Vandendool’s
Terrific, Awesome, Very good
Day.
The Grade 4s in social studies
found out that Canada has a new
northern territory called, Nunavut.
The Northwest Territories was split
on April 1. Now Nunavut covers
one-fifth of Canada - two million
square kms. The capital of Nunavut
is Iqaluit. So Canada has 10
provinces and three territories.

and Proverbs 17: 22.
The children’s story was based
on the sermon, Smile.
John Dorsch and Don Procter
took up the offering. Connie Shiell

UCW holds
mystery tour
A mystery tour was held for the
UCW. There were 19 women who
met at the church to begin the tour.
They travelled to Brussels and
headed east, ending up at Rosemary
Terpstra’s ‘Country Patchworks’.
Most of the women did not know
that such a place existed but were
very pleased to see quilts and
material and anything having to do
with sewing. They toured the store
looking at all the different samples
of wall hangings, quilts, aprons,
clothes, placemats, etc.
The room used to house the
family swimming pool but when
Rosemary saw how little it was
being used she presented her idea
to her family and the rest as they
say, is history.
Quilting classes are taught and
