Courtney scores hattrick plus
The Blyth Juveniles met with
Wingham on Nov. 28 on home ice.
Unfortunately the Blyth team
received 22 minutes in penalties in
comparison to Wingham with 18
minutes spent in the penalty box.
Although Blyth lost by a score of
10-5, Mike Courtney did his share
earning a hattrick plus with the four
goals he scored, while Kevin
Kernighan earned a hattrick for
assists.
Courtney's first goal was at the
2:09 mark in the first period. He
was assisted by Jeff Heipel and
Kevin Kernighan. Courtney’s
second goal came at I 1:40 of the
second period, assisted by
Kernighan once more. Only two
minutes later, Courtney earned his
hattrick, unassisted.
In the third period Chris
Saunders scored with another assist
going to Kernighan at the 13:55
mark. The final goal for Blyth was
Courtney’s fourth for the evening,
assisted by Scott Kuenzig and Jeff
Heipel.
This year the coaching staff
consists of Gary Courtney, head
coafth; Colin Riley, trainer; Brian
Marks, manager and Carman
Bernard, assistant coach.
The next game for the Juveniles
is for Sunday, Dec. 5 at 4 p.m. in
Blyth arena where they will be
hosting Lucknow.

Finalist
The Wingham Lions Club Midgets posted a 6-2 decision
over the Blyth Midgets on Sunday afternoon to win the
Wingham Regional Midget Silver Stick championship.

Midgets lose final
The Blyth Midget Bulldogs lost
to Wingham 6-2 in the final of the
Regional Midget Silver Stick
hockey tournament played in
Wingham.
The Bulldogs won their round
robin series going undefeated.
Blyth downed Shallow Lake 4-1,
Paisley 4-0 and Chesley 3-0.
The Bulldogs then played
Teeswater in the semi-final,
defeating them 5-2. Blyth
goaltender Travis Campbell put
together a sin ng of 134 consecutive
minutes without being scored on in
those games.
Other Bulldog members
competing in the tournament were
Graham Worsell, Craig Marks,
Bryce Toll, Tyler Stewart, Andy
Toll, Dean Wilson, Rob
Archambault, Dave Ansley, Nathan
Shannon, Chad Fischer, Derek
Cook, Mike Bernard, Matt
Anderson, Scott Austin, Joel
Arthur, Cole Stewart and Adam
Anderson.
Highlanders in second
The Atom Highlanders played
Burlington on Saturday and tied 2-
2
Burlington is in the number one
place.
Scoring for the Highlanders were
Rhys Thomas from Derek
Widmeyer and Conor Gill, and Jay
Tremble scored unassisted from the
blue line.
Sunday the Highlanders travelled
to Guelph for a 7:30 start and won
5-3. Scoring for the Highlanders
were: Grant Cochrane from Jordan
Wright and Tremble, Chris Corbett
from Jim Hutchinson and Adam
Corbett, Jeff Colton from C.
Corbett and Luke Bester, Gill from
Widmeyer and Thomas and C.
Corbett unassisted.
The Highlanders were in second
place in the standing as of last
week.
